It's $89.99 brand new on Amazon. For $13 I'd go new over refurb:

I have this monitor plugged into my server, but I very rarely use it, since the server has IPMI. Mainly, it's just there to plug into my GTX 1070 for my Steam VM. :)

u/xDinoswordx · 5 pointsr/buildapc

I had the perfect recommendation for you, but when I checked on the price I discovered the it took a $70 hike. Lucky for you there is a similar one Lenovo released here. It's pretty much the same as this, it just doesn't have Freesync. But thats alright since you're using a 1050ti. It is $130, but there are some used ones at $102-$115. I have 2 different Lenovo monitors and they work great for gaming. I like them because of the thin bezels and the matte displays. If you can't squeeze the lenovo into your budget, this is pretty popular. There is also this, which is vesa mountable, which is nice. I hope this helps a little. Good luck!

u/c-easy · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

Yes I believe it has 3 display ports in the back as well as hdmi there’s a vga port as well I believe. I’m currently using this monitor link because it was cheap and had hdmi. I like the monitor but it doesn’t have built in speakers (not a big deal) hope this was helpful.

its pretty expensive for a 60Hz monitor but its really good

not IPS if you dont care about that

if you dont want 24" but still want IPS and HDMI

These are 1080p monitor links from amazon (free shipping with student prime):

$90 IPS monitor (better viewing angles)

u/Blowmewhileiplaycod · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

It doesn't, but I already have this and my laptop can only power one external monitor at a time. I have been looking for a reason to upgrade though.

u/Unlikely_Username · 3 pointsr/reddeadredemption

I'd honestly look into getting a cheap 1080p monitor if I were you. 15 inches is tiny, and I'd assume HD-Ready means 720p. You could grab this pretty well reviewed HP 21.5 inch for $90, best seller on Amazon.

This 21.5" HP IPS LED monitor is $90. Not the best one money can buy, but it's hardly crap.

u/thunder2132 · 2 pointsr/CruciblePlaybook

My current monitor in my office isn't too terrible, though not down to 1ms. This is what I currently have, apparently it's 7ms.

Playing in my office comes with other issues. It's super cramped in there, and there's no hardwire method that works for getting a signal to the room. No cable jacks to move my modem, no ethernet in the building, all the way across the apartment from my one cable jack, powerline ethernet sucks, and believe me, I've tried several brands/models. I can get wifi back there, but even with an extender the signal is abysmal. With my apartment/furniture, there's really no other options for moving the desk. My best bet would almost be to bring the monitor and a small stand/side table out into the living room and using that with my PC, and still sitting where I sit, then moving it when people come over.

Or, I try a different TV with closer to 10ms of input lag.

What I'm currently planning to do is to try a different mouse with the lag-free adapter, which I've read multiple reviews of, and all of the reviews state that it performs as well as a wired mouse. I had one, but it didn't track well, and I'm thinking it may have just been defective.

If that still doesn't help, I'll try moving my monitor into the living room. If I see a dramatic improvement, I may finally invest in a newer TV that won't cost $250+ per year to run, that also happens to have much lower input lag.

I have another TV I could use, another plasma, even older, that's 42". That one has <20ms of input lag, and it's inperceivable to me. Problem with that is it's not wall-mountable, it's 720p60, and at 8 hours of use per day, costs nearly $600/year to run.

u/TheFotty · 2 pointsr/techsupport

You can't make your screen have more pixels than it does, so even if you could force a non standard resolution, it would look really bad and definitely not be usable for graphic design work. If your laptop has an HDMI out you could hook up to your main TV or you could get a 1080 monitor for under 100 bucks and use that.

u/thatredditguy1234 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

the ram was probably $105+, you can get this cheap monitor for only $100 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015WCV70W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Syphor · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Not who you asked, but in my experience and my opinion, it won't be an issue for most people. There's a tiny bit of visual blur on fast full screen movements, especially when it's shifting wildly between bright and dark. For myself, the difference in cost - and I love the IPS color rendition, though other techs are close now - is worth the tiny bit of blur. If you're playing competitively, yeah, probably not what you want, but for everything else it's probably fine.

This is likely what /u/cloudaura1234 is talking about - we use them at work and I've recommended them to other people. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-Monitor-22cwa/dp/B015WCV70W They're common enough there might be one on display at a Best Buy or something to try out first. Worth looking, maybe.

That said, Amazon mentioned that there's a larger Acer with a slightly faster response time for only a few bucks more. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-bidx-23-8-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B0148NNKTC/ I do not have experience with this monitor, unlike the HP, but IMO it might be worth a shot. Do note that it likely gets its higher response from overdriving the panel, which can cause ghosting as noted in the reviews. This can apparently be turned off.

u/FW-190D-9 · 2 pointsr/badeconomics

Well I think there are two main questions, first of all what sort of display scaling do you plan on using on your OS and how close are you willing to sit to the monitor? From what you said I think that a 4k display would be best since you essentially get 4 1080p monitors right next to each other. The main downside is size, you can get a decent 24 inch 4k monitor for 280 bucks on Amazon, but 27 inch costs nearly 400 dollars and 30 inch or beyond would blow way past your budget. One easy solution to this is to simply sit closer to your monitor but that isn't always a good option ergonomically speaking. Personally I got a 4k 24 inch monitor and use it without any display scaling and I just sit really close to it. That gets me loads of space for multi-tasking and text at a competitive price.

Personally I don't there's any reason to buy a single 1080p monitor if you are going to be using it with your laptop since your laptop presumably already has a 1080p display and that just isn't enough pixels to keep lots of windows and text on the screen at once. You could get a new 1080p monitor in the low 20 inch range for 90 bucks. Getting two of those is probably the best bet for under 200 bucks.

You could also get one or two of these 24 inch 2k displays. However getting just one of them is probably on the small side of things and 2 would probably blow past your budget. Still if you get just 1 it's cheaper than any 4k display and if you get 2 its cheaper than any 30 inch 4k display.

Also don't get a TN display they are cheaper and have better response times (which only matters for gaming) but they have much worse colors and the viewing angles are bad as well. IPS based displays offer far superior colors and viewing angles which makes them preferable for productivity work.

u/dolan313 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Which 21.5 inch monitor should I get: HP for 100$ or Acer for 110$

The HP has IPS which means it should be better but I wanted to ask if anyone has bad experiences. Acer seems like the more reliable brand, I was planning on getting that monitor to begin with but then the price increase from 90$ to 110$ and now the HP is cheaper anyway. Should I just go for the HP?

EDIT: The HP doesn't have DVI, but it does have HDMI (which the Acer does not). I was planning on using DVI, is HDMI noticeably different? It also has 7ms response time. Big issue or no?

60Hz. Both my monitors are these HP Pavilion 22cwa 21.5-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitors, which unfortunately only have VGA or HDMI outputs.

That being said, the HDMI-to-DVI converter is it's own cable (no attachments) and I do my gaming on the monitor that's attached with pure HDMI.

Looking for a little input here.

Looking to change up my trading station (battle station)

Anyone have good setups on their desk they prefer? I am working with a 13" retina MacBook Pro (late 2013 model) and am considering just using an additional monitor alongside it connected by HDMI. The monitor will be used for charting and MacBook for placing my orders, which I do on a separate account.

Right now I am just using the MacBook to trade and my iPad on my desk to stream Bloomberg, but I really think a second monitor will be beneficial at this point.

Here is the monitor I am thinking. Hoping 21.5" is enough for charting?

What games do you enjoy playing? If you play a lot of competitive games and first person shooters then 144hz should be better for you.If you enjoy visuals more(GTAV,Witcher 3 and such) then 1440p should serve you a bit better.

Your rig can power both options extremely well.

If you want to save up some money for 1440p then that fine.

Lastly a cheap nice 1080p 60hz monitor http://pcpartpicker.com/product/bmbp99/aoc-monitor-i2267fw this uses VGA and DVI .In the box you will only find a vga cable though.Use a dvi cable for better performance.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ this monitor is also nice and you can use an hdmi cable to connect it.(you have to buy one if you dont have). It comes with a VGA cable.Since the monitor you are currently using has a dvi connection,if you pair it with this monitor and hdmi you can have both monitors connected on your PC very easily

/r/hometheater is my go to place for A/V advice. Don't focus on whether the tv is 4k, you'll see much more benefit from a TV with HDR10 and no 4k than vice versa. Although, HDR10 is pretty new so most HDR10 TV's will be 4k, but not necessarily.

In regards to a computer, what do you use it for and where? If you are a student who isn't studying Film & TV, don't get the 15" MBP. If you are any other kind of student, I probably recommend the MacBook Air processor upgraded to the 2.2 GHz i7. If you plan to use it at home a significant amount, get an external monitor to hook up the laptop to. I have this and it works really well. I put my laptop on a stand next to it and it makes for a nice dual monitor set up.

If you want to game on it, don't get a mac obviously haha. I have an older MacBook Air with a 1.4 GHz i5 and 8GB ram and although I'm not a gamer, I've run CS:GO on it decently and it handles games like Hotline Miami just fine.

u/AngryScandanavian · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Buildapcforme did a pretty good job for you, there. Only things I would change are the PSU (I would get the cheaper EVGA 550W G2) and the monitor (I'd get the $99 HP Pavilion IPS instead).

This is amazing. I was going to update it to include that the 700 was without the monitor so this works out. I just have a few questions about the build:

  1. Is it worth it to upgrade to the i5-6600 for $40 more? Would this make a big difference in terms of editing maybe or gaming?
  2. I was leaning towards the GTX 1060. I know it's high in demand right now, but would there be more availability in a month? But if I was able to get it, what's the price difference and is it worth it over the RX 480? Also which brand because there are a lot.
  3. For the monitor I was thinking the HP Pavilion 21.5-Inch IPS LED HDMI VGA Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_JHsMxb3JVZAPX
I'm not sure what the big differences are or if there are any. I think that the HP aesthetically looks nicer
  4. Is this a solid keyboard? For some reason the way it's designed, it's look really cheap and kind of over the top. My friend has a Cooler Master Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DKXXAAQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AstMxbMHYQ6GA that he said he would sell to me for $10. Idk too much a out keyboards so as long as it looks simlle and works well, I'm happy.
  5. Do you think a wireless card is necessary? I'm not sure if I'll have access to Ethernet(probably will).
  6. My old gaming laptop has two 512GB hard drives. Would it be smart to snag one of them? Is it possible to attach it to this computer?

    EDIT: Aesthetically

If your gonna be gaming at 1080p you might want to switch to the AMD RX 480 because your motherboard is AMD optimized for Crossfire and not Nvidia SLI if you so choose to run two cards in the future.

The RX 480 runs better, if not the same, performance as the GTX 970 and costs $200 for the 4GB model, which saves you $55.

Likely a multi-media version from a number of years back. Elite displays carry Display port, DVI. Only the really new elite displays have HDMI, but they would also have a display port.

Without any information about this other than "cylinder stand" there's nothing to find. The cheap HP monitors are pretty meh, especially if they're old.

Otherwise: $99 HP 21" on Amazon

VGA/DVI/HDMI, LED, and $100 brand new, free shipping for prime. I would not recommend buying a monitor or really anything from a thift shop.

my laptop can't even think about running recording software so that's definitely something i was looking for, thanks! i don't plan on posting any gameplay anytime soon but i do make simple youtube videos and wanted to eventually stream some gaming so that's good to know!

i'll save this for sure so i have an idea of what i can do and how to achieve it when the time comes! i'm not sure if i'm an fps or graphics settings person yet bc i haven't had the chance to play with anything reasonable in any category so this'll help me with tinkering and figuring out what i prefer!

no need to apologize for the long post, i've been hesitant to ask questions because there's a lot i just don't know so i appreciate any insight and help people are willing to give! especially when it's game specific, since one of the major reasons i want a gaming pc is to play overwatch lol. it helps me a lot, so thanks again!

My monitor.

I don't really know what overclocking is.

I don't like the interface of Windows 8. Other than that, it as just highly rated. I don't know what I should get.

Are IPS monitors bad? I dont do heavy online gaming besides Battlefield 4. I recently bought my dad a new computer and a cheap IPS screen from HP

and it looked really nice when I tried it on my pc it still ooked mostly good, a bit too white but some of the colors in games looked...off? Like the green tint on fallout 4 was kinda... I dunno but it looked nice? Like the way motion looked was.. nice? I'm really bad at conveying this stuff.

My webcam pics looked like shit on it though, maybe it was the brightness?

I didnt play around with the settings too much. I have this samsung monitor from like 2010

So is LED better for gaming than IPS? Is there a decent IPS or LED monitor I can get for 200 bucks? I was doing ok on my current one but the IPS one looked really nice.

Any recommendations or advice?

HP Pavilion 21.5-Inch IPS LED HDMI VGA Monitor. I really lucked out with this one because the screen pops easily off the stand which in turn breaks down into two pieces that fit perfectly in my bag. Was a nice surprise.

EDIT: Crap. Again, forgot to mention that since the monitor has no speakers or headphone jack I picked up this Jtech HTMI audio extractor that I can plug my headphones into.

I have this as my primary moniter and a typical dell 20inch as my secondary.

I don't know that much about this area, but my monitor is 1920 x 1080 at fullscreen. I think 60 FPS (can't you not tell a difference any higher?)

Hey ShadowFlame740, I'm not an expert by any means, but here's the one that gets my vote: HP 22CWA

  • Budget: $90/150

  • Prospective Resolution: 1920x1080

  • Size: 21.5"

  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9

  • Adaptive Sync: None

  • Other Features: IPS

Note that I'm not sure the response time and refresh rate are acceptable for games like you listed in your Usage Type, but I did hit all of your nice-to-have's, and you could feasibly have two of these around your budget mark if you really wanted.

    Good luck!

Monitor is 119.99 with Amazon Prime but you should consider this or this.

The XFX GTR is hands down the best aftermarket rx 480 (check reviews online) available. It's usually near $300.00 but there is an ongoing sale that helps you save $50. So it drops to $250.00 (which is a steal imo).

I'm not usually one for rebate as it takes a while to receive and by then you'll usually have forgotten about it as well so you'll feel that the price is without the rebate. However that's just me, do as you see fit.

Decamarks didn't include windows 10 with his build? It's included in mine. With Rebate and maybe switching of the monitors, you have about $30-50 for an extra SSD of 120 GB for your OS to run off of. I suggest this if you can fit it in your build.

As for the Memory, I went for the cheapest while still maintaining decent ratings, (there are cheaper memory sticks out there). For the PSU, I went with Seasonic as you do not the 750w with the build unless you are planning on SLI in the future. I kept your case the same as that is entirely up to your personal preference. I hope this helps.

Edit: Also if you want a more popular mobo (the one I have in the build currently is fine ), consider this. But keep in mind, this will push the price to the budget of $950 . Counting rebate and everything.

This is what it would look like with the SSD and the Case Fan but it goes a little bit over budget with the HP monitor.

See if this power supply is compatible with your build, as it'll save you some money (it's $35 for 500W EVGA). I'm not sure what specs your monitors have nor the pricing but this is another good budget monitor at only $99 for HP 21.5 frameless. If you can lower down about $100, you may be able to upgrade your GPU to the 1070.

u/Silver_Foxxx · 1 pointr/computers

This computer has a VGA port and two Displayports for monitors. You'll need to buy a Displayport to HDMI cable to make this computer to work for you.

Get two of these monitors and two Displayport to HDMI cables to connect the monitors to the computer. Monitors that come with Displayports and Displayport cables are much more expensive than these well reviewed devices.

Look at that monitor, for example. 1080p IPS monitors are now very affordable (under $100). But it has no speakers and no VESA mounting holes (I think there's an adapter for it). Some people may not care much about those specs, but I personally do. It's not sRGB 100% but its colors ain't any bad. And it's only $90.

That's my monitor. ViewSonic is a very inexpensive yet reliable brand. I like it because it has a sRGB 100%, 1080p, IPS panel. It even has speakers (they lack bass and their sound is average laptop quality). And its bezels are tiny (good for multiple monitor setups). I kind of miss the VESA but that's ok for the price.

Outside used market, for online order this HP and this Lenovo is as good as you can get with that budget. Since you said you are by a microcenter here is a nice AOC and Acer. Personal preference is to lean towards IPS if at all possible, so Acer 23 inch IPS would be IMHO your "best" choice. But be aware that the tax will get you over budget.

No reason to stick to Dell unless you want something specific from them, like their monitor stands. Also most budget monitors are the same sans some aesthetic differences.

HP has one for $100, 22 inches, IPS. You're not discerning with features so just go for the cheaper ones.

One thing that I know will work. Plug in a TV or external monitor using a mini display port to hdmi or VGA adapter. and if you close the screen after you turn it on, have power plugged in and use an external keyboard and mouse, it will force video to the external display as if it were internal. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201834

Honestly, this is beyond my expertise but ill give you my humble opinion.
Are you sure your cpu will give you the most out of your graphic cards? I feel like you could use a a more powerful cpu.
are you gaming with the second monitor? Bc if you are just going to use just for social media while gaming i would suggest you to get a hp pavilion monitor at $90.00.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uIAPzbXJ1FT3C

You can use win 10 without paying for it, just download the driver and click that you will activate the key code later. Its pretty much the same as win 10, just that you will have a water mark in your right bottom corner telling to to activate it. Also, you wouldn't be able to your background screen from windows but you will be able to do it from google (just right click the image and click set as a background)
And the most important thing... YOU ARE MISSING RGB!!!
Edit
I think this psu is better for your rig https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY4OJYJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0JAPzbCV07BSN
Gold standard does a fine a job, platinum and titanium are pretty much much for bragging rights.

With your budget, I can't fit in a monitor or an SSD. This is the best budget build you will find anywhere for this low of a price, I guarentee it. You will just have to scrap a $150 dollars for the SSD and Monitor, or you can forget about the SSD, and find get 90 dollar monitor, like this one. This build on 1024 x 768 everything on low should give an average of around 180 fps.

I'm thinking about getting a monitor to hook up my Dell XPS 13 to. Which one should I get? I was looking for monitors sub $150, and these four are what I've found so far:

Acer R240HY

ASUS VX228H

HP Pavillion 22CWA

ASUS VS228H-P

My thoughts about the monitors: I like the VX228H for dual HDMI (it'd be nice to be able to switch between laptop and switch without unplugging and switching cables from the monitor every time, but not having it isn't a dealbreaker), the Acer and HP both look nice too (I like me some small bezels), and the VS228H-P I'm not too sure about.

I plan on using this monitor for general use, slight gaming, and with the switch, so nothing too crazy.

ALSO, to connect the laptop to the monitor, do I have to buy this USB C to HDMI cable to connect the two? Or is there another, better way? Thanks!

I have a 1050 ti, which from what I understand from being a new builder (first build finished about a week ago) is a decent step down from a 1060 6g, but I can play most non-AAA games at 1080p/60+fps with higher-ultra settings (MMOs like WoW, Trove, Rift, and MOBAs/arena brawlers like OW/TF2). I would imagine the 1060 would be able to play a wider variety of games in that same setting of 1080p/60+fps. Another thing that I gathered just from browsing here is that the 1070 is really the starting point of people building for a 144hz gaming setup.

Edit: If I can plug something else in as well, the monitor I ended up going with has been wonderful for me so far. This HP monitor is pretty basic @ 1080p/60hz, but the display really is fantastic and well worth more than the price tag. The colors are very nice and it displays all of the games I've played on it so far incredibly well. It could possibly be a nice starting point if you want to save a little bit before making some upgrades in the future.

I really recommend building your own PC, you get more internet points and build knowledge. I have a PC that I have designed for a friend that is abt the same price (cheaper actually) that if you build would be totally worth it. Saw a lot of things abt pre-builts, so yeah. Not too difficult, and I hope this helps :)

21.5" IPS 1080p Cheap option, no vesa mount screw holes though. I have used these as side panels and love them, I bought adapters so I could vesa mount them though.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS239H-P-1920x1080-Back-lit-Monitor/dp/B008DWITHI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1541993826&sr=1-2&keywords=23%2Bips%2Bvesa&dpID=41zbBpH7xYL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1

23" ips 1080p with vesa mounting capabilities.

I don't see a real need to get another 1440p screen honestly. Especially since it's just your side panel and being cheaper you could get 2x 1080p screens and have a lot of screen real estate. If you strictly want 2 panels only, then I could understand going 1440p I suppose. I'd think 4k would be better though since you could watch 4k movies on that, and use your main monitor for gaming.

like $170 for that 4k ips screen 27" it know you were saying you only wanted around 24" but having 2 27" screens with the option to do some games @ 1440p for higher frame rates and some @4k along with movies would be a nice choice to have at your fingertips.

If you aren't necessarily on a budget, what I have as an example might not be for you.

I got these last year on sale for $80.00 each

I arranged them in a way that I tucked the side monitor bezels behind the center screen bezels. I noticed them quite a bit still at first, but the more I raced I began to forget they were even there. Before those I was using a single 43" screen. I'll take 3 smaller screens every day and twice on Sunday.

I'm sure there will be other people chime in with suggestions but I'm happy with what I've got. I follow some sim pages on instagram, and there are some amazing rigs out there. Obviously the more screen surface the better, the farther they can wrap around you the more immersive it will feel.

Building a rig is part of the fun though. Good luck.

Probably, but it isnt worth it at all, especially when a 1080p IPS monitor only costs $30 more

u/TetraLog · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This acer monitor seems really good for the price, 75hz, 4ms delay and Freesync. I have no experience or knowledge about the color accuracy or other details. For 90 bucks it looks really modern and has good reviews.

Alternatively this hp monitor is literally the best selling monitor on Amazon. LinusTechTips did a review a while back.

At this price point you won’t get fancy things like height adjustment or screen rotation.

u/whitey115 · 1 pointr/pcgaming

This isn't a laptop but I'm pretty sure my setup would be more then enough for all of the games you just listed. My PC, GPU, and Monitor all add up to about $500, and I just use an old keyboard and mouse I found at a garage sale. I know you asked for a laptop but if you want a $500 gaming setup to play those games then this is it.

I have [this](HP Pavilion 22cwa 21.5-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BI2LybYJRHRXC) one. It's a beautiful ips for cheap. Assuming you just want 60hz, definitely get an ips. Shit, has no vesa though.

u/flippysize · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hey everyone! Should I upgrade my monitor? Currently using an Asus x193w, looking to upgrade to the HP Pavillion 22cwa (https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-22cwa-21-5-inch-Backlit/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487288568&sr=1-3&keywords=monitor), or other suggestions. GPU is GTX 960. Thanks!

u/Chicagorobby · 1 pointr/buildapc

Actually I was. I thought it would cost too much though. Is it an option with the current listed build? Would I need another video card for the second video output? Like I said before I don't really know much about computers so any information is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I found this monitor on amazon for what seems like a good price. Would this be alright?

u/jaecup · 1 pointr/oculus

I dont see why that wouldnt work...you could get an even cheaper one though. If you don't need ultra portable then get something like this.

This may work. I own one and it came to mind when you mentioned a monitor. Just don't attach the stand and maybe get some rubber pieces to stick on the back to hold it in place on the angled back of the desk.

u/Cynjaman1019 · 1 pointr/buildapc

This isn’t exactly 24 inches, but LinusTechTips reviewed it and he said that it’s a really good bang for your buck monitor:

u/Geshman · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

As far as monitor goes, you can use an HD TV as one, and you can often find older LCDs at thrift stores, craigslist, or garage sales for not too much.

And for peripherals, you can get an acceptable mouse and keyboard for really cheap. Mouse, Keyboard

Here's a monitor as well Although I really would recommed getting it on the cheap.

Please note, I just looked these up on amazon and checked a few reviews. A little more research could possibly find a better option.

u/Heniboy · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Ideally you would want to get a 1920x1080 monitor with a DVI or HDMI or DisplayPort connector. VGA isn't that good.

If you live nearby a microcenter they have a sale for a good monitor at $80: http://www.microcenter.com/product/408370/E2252SWDN_22_1080p_LED_Monitor

It's a 22" monitor which is a good size. It's full HD and has a good 5 ms response time and uses a DVI connector. You will however have to buy a HDMI or Displayport to DVI adapter as the RX 480 in my build does not have a DVI output.

If you would be willing to pay about $20 more you could get this monitor: http://www.microcenter.com/product/462882/S22F350FHN_22_HD_LED_Monitor

This is as good as the other monitor but it has HDMI input so you would not have to buy an adapter for it, and it has a technology called freesync. Freesync only works on AMD graphics cards and basically makes the image look smoother and nicer. It's hard to explain, I would look up an explanation.

If you do not live by a micro center you have some options on amazon here for $100: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-HDMI-Monitor/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474251803&sr=1-1&keywords=monitor

That is a very nice HP monitor. It uses another screen type called IPS which has very very nice colors, and it has a much wider range of colors it can produce. Unfortunately this monitor does not have Freesync but it is still very solid and would do very good for gaming and it would not need an adapter.

Also, if you would rather have Freesync over IPS, there is this $120 monitor on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2257-MHD-DisplayPort-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B018MYT3YO/ref=sr_1_13?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474252022&sr=1-13&keywords=freesync+monitor

This one is very good as well, it doesn't have IPS but it does have Freesync. You would not need an adapter for this one either.

Looking for a new monitor. How is this one? And can anyone recommend one for me? Not trying to spend over 150

u/TheGreatWhitePeenay · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hello, I am just looking to get a new monitor and I was planning on spending about 100 dollars. I found this monitor,

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-HDMI-Monitor/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1467232435&sr=1-1&keywords=monitor

Does anyone have an opinion on it or have a recommendation for a different monitor that is superior but still in my price range?

Thanks

u/Sky_Hawk105 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

That monitor is really bad for $110. Ugliest (and thickest) bezels I've ever seen and only 21.5 inches.

If you want another 21.5 inch one this one looks the nicest. Thin bezels, sleek and IPS:

Should I look too much into contrast ratio? I was looking into Amazon's best sellers and they had differences in contrast ratio among other things (didn't understand the rest!). For example, this the best seller

u/ElectroWaveTech · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I recommend this monitor it is very budget friendly

u/samfreez · 1 pointr/Vive

Depends on the game. Generally it's a good idea, as some menus and things will drop you out of the headset, which is a pain in the ass for people WITH an active monitor lol.

Perhaps consider buying yourself a super cheap, tiny monitor?

This one's $89:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-HDMI-Monitor/dp/B015WCV70W

Sure, having to spend even MORE sucks, but really, it's worth it IMO... both the Vive and saving the hassle of jury rigging something.

u/Thatisdifficult · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I second the Dell Optiplex.

Here's one for $150. It includes an i5 3550, 8GB of ram, a 500GB HDD, an optical drive, and Windows 10 Pro. A very good deal that will overcome the overpriced ram problem.

Here's a $90 1080p, 60Hz, IPS monitor.

Here's a $225 GTX 1050 Ti (MSRP: $140). All graphics cards above a GT 1030 are overpriced right now.

Here's a $95 Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD. You can clone the operating system on the HDD to it.

Here's a $27 blue switch mechanical keyboard. (or if you want a more silent keyboard get this $40 brown switch keyboard).

You may want to replace the power supply. Here's a good one for $50.

    • -
      Total: $637

I'm sorry, but you will have to forgo having a blue case with LEDs and a side-window if you wish to have a decent PC at or below your $700 budget. Good luck building!
u/usadebater · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I actually don't use a monitor since I game on a laptop, so I'm fairly clueless but I was looking into this one.
As far as keyboards are concerned, I might end up using the old apple keyboard that was connected to an desktop before we threw it away. That would save me money to spend elsewhere on my computer (or on the system?)!
