Ah, that's sad to hear. I have the Skull & Co and the triggers are my favorite part. The silicone's pretty thick, but if you do about 50 hard presses on each, it loosens enough to feel like they are the triggers. Since the buttons on the joy-cons are fairly small, this made my gaming much more comfortable. I also put on some hyperkin thumb grips. The extra texture means you can hover the top of your right thumb over the buttons and move the stick itself with a lower part (like around the top knuckle). Keeps my hand from cramping.
I have to use the snap grip instead of the trigger grip, though. It's hard to explain why, but something about the trigger grip's shape bugs me. I think it's that the back grooves feel like the top of an xbox controller, but the L and R buttons are nowhere near it.
Amazon has these nifty textured caps. I'd just grab one of those.

These are way better than I expected them to be. Has the raised ones and low ones. Highly recommend.

Had them on mine for like 6 months. They seem real nice quality, and they stay on perfectly.
if you just want to replace the rubber you can get some nintendo switch thumbstick covers like those or similar:

I haven't tested them myself, but an user on the nvidia forums reported that he got some of those and they fit perfectly on the thumbsticks if you remove the original rubber and place them over the plastic. Here's a link to the original thread on nvidia forums:
