The 3400G has no point in favour(except the useless in that case integrated gpu)compared to the old 2600/2600X and costs very little less.

https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_5_3400g_review,1.html

Get a windows 10 pro OEM key and use the money saved to get a better hardware.

https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-windows-10-professional-cd-key-compare-prices/

Ryzen 2600X, always faster than the 3400G and with 6C/12T instead 4C/8T, same price.

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Wraith-Cooler/dp/B07B428V2L/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=2600x&qid=1566549660&s=gateway&sr=8-1

For the motherboard go with the AORUS B450M, still micro-atx but with better vrm section and 4 dimm slot.

https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450-AORUS-Thermal-Motherboard/dp/B07FWY246F/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=GIGABYTE+B450+AORUS+M&qid=1566548666&s=electronics&sr=1-3

For the ram go with the 3200Mhz, the price is not so different from the 3000mhz and in the ryzen 2xxx the frequency of the ram is never enough. This one go without any problem at 3200mhz in all the 4 dimm slot(in many MB it slow down when you use all of them).

For the ssd go with a NVME one, not a simple and slower sata-on-m2 like the one you linked, this is good and immensely faster than a m2-sata one.

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-SN500-500GB-NVMe-Internal/dp/B07P7TFKRH/ref=pd_cp_147_3?pd_rd_w=4Enu4&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=X7MNXV3BTN7KTDVWETV3&pd_rd_r=65132661-a55d-48a9-b339-2de3f59635c6&pd_rd_wg=wdzbp&pd_rd_i=B07P7TFKRH&psc=1&refRID=X7MNXV3BTN7KTDVWETV3

The rest is ok.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-HX432C16PB3K2-16-Memory-Black/dp/B01GCWQ8VO I guess they are these ones. Not actually sure if they're good for the build yet.

*EDIT: Actually regarding to Asus QVL PDF that memory isn't supported so I guess you(we) should go with G.SKILL then.

Thanks for replying - would any DDR3 / DDR3L modules work though?

Something like this?

Hey, I searched around and settled for this RAM, which is a little cheaper and is listed in all ryzen compatibility lists, as well as my motherboard's QVL

I think you should return the RAM you got and get a new kit, Kingston HyperX Predator:

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-HX430C15PB3K2-16/dp/B01GCWQ8VO/

This kit is tested on the MSI QVL for compatible RAM for your board and CPU. The speed linked is 3200, but if you need to save a few bucks you can go to a lesser speed (2666). Good luck.

I'm updating my 6 year old PC (my ex friend built it for me so I'm newbie in this stuff) and now I need an opinion. I heard it would be best for me to update processor, motherboard and memory ect. now and GPU later. I use my PC mostly to paint, photo edit, play Sims 4 (with all expasions) and some other games (nothing hardcore).

I currently have these:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/overview/
https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/fx-6300
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-r9-270x.c2466
https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-2x4GB-1333MHz/dp/B00J8E912M

And these are the things I've been thinking about getting:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4/
https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-5-2600x
https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-HX432C16PB3K2-16/dp/B01GCWQ8VO/

So what do you think? Is this any good or should I change something?

Qvl says it will run at the rated 3200mhz. But I couldn't get it working at that frequency.

Ok cool, changed it to this - HyperX Predator HX432C16PB3K2/16 DDR4 16 GB Kit (2 x 8 GB) 3200 MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM, Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GCWQ8VO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_d2Q3CbM4MH1G6

BTW 16gb ddr4 3200 is only 80, IMO ram should be like 60-70 at most. Mobo is also only 114 new, seems a bit much really.

The first 10 or so in the first block are 3200! Here's one of the qualified sets on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-HX432C16PB3K2-16-DDR4-Memory/dp/B01GCWQ8VO

Just go down the list and put the part number into Amazon till you find one you like the look of.

Hi, I've bought a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC and I want to buy 16Gb of Ram.

Apparently the motherboard does support the Corsair Vengeance LPX at 3000MHz but not the same model at 3200MHz as the compatibility table says here.

However in the same compatibility table, it's written that it does support other ram at 3200MHz.

Should I try to buy the higher clock rate ones or switch to another model, for example the HyperX Predator 3200MHz DDR4?

u/parlingo · 1 pointr/buildapc

As already mentioned it can be fine, but it can be annoying to get it to work properly, at least in my experience.

I had to try nearly every combination of which module goes into which slot when I did this.

Personally I recommend replacing your RAM with 2x8GB instead of adding 2x4GB. For example: https://www.amazon.es/dp/B01GCWQ8VO

Also if you decide to get 2x4GB, I'm sure you can find something more reasonably priced.

I was looking at this ram just an upgrade on the ram I currently have.
