Thanks for making this point. Most of the discussion here centers around adult views of race and racial bias and projecting those onto the choices of the child.
Children display very different object and set comprehension until middle school years. For example, if you take away a preschooler's chair when they're not looking and replace it with a tiny replica, they'll try for quite a while to sit in the tiny replica even though the scale is impossibly small.
