As a former member/contest winner of Worth1000, here are a few basics:

  • Always ALWAYS This can't be stressed enough: Pick High Resolution Sources. This will ensure that you are working with high quality because .jpeg conversion for website viewing kills quality.
  • Try to pick images that share common perspective, lighting, composition. This will make your chop easier and much more enjoyable.
  • Try to use all the tools at photoshop's disposal: mirrors, scales, masks, adjustment layer styles, etc.
  • Check out I've got a Human in my throat and When Pancakes go Bad. These are great for galleries and even have a few tutorials for creating chopped images.
  • You can also google Worth1000 Photoshop Tutorials to get some knowledge on how to create your own images using the tools of some of the W1K pros.

I really miss that site. Good luck and good chopping!

Check out worth1000.com. It's a photoshop contest site that has some amazing images done in photoshop which can certainly inspire. Have your advanced students look at the http://www.worth1000.com/tutorials section and the worth1000 book http://www.amazon.com/Ive-Got-Human-Throat-Delusions/dp/1598630709

*disclaimer, I have nothing to do with Worth1000 but found it immensely helpful in inspiring my Photoshop class. It's full of "Coool" stuff that makes Photoshop fun.
