/u/thekingdion - I have the BMPCC, and I love it. Almost five years after this camera's release, Blackmagic still makes the only cameras you can buy with 10-bit and 12-bit losslessly compressed RAW internal codecs below $1000.

That said, there is a better option.

Instead of the Pocket Cinema Camera, I recommend the newer Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera for its superior battery life and its 1080/60p frame rate (the BMPCC is limited to 1080/30p).

With this camera, you won't have the BMPCC's weak battery or dim LCD challenges.

The BMMCC is the only 1080/60p RAW camera in this price range and can give you slow motion image quality like this:
