This. A lot of people use:
Inateck Micro USB Card Reader... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCBXIY8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Has the added benefit of a microSD reader which allows you to put all your games onto a card and frees up your jump drive for kernel updates when the time comes (instead of backing up and formatting every kernel update). Personally ordered this when I reached Psycho Mantis and it worked like a charm, makes the setup look cleaner too. Honestly didn't know about the statue thing haha

There are two ways:

  1. USB Host, which requires an OTG device and a USB drive.
  2. echo's super storage mod.

I just use USB Host, although I recommend against the OTG devices they have in that tutorial. I currently use this one by Inateck and recently switched from a 32 GB USB drive to a 256 GB mini SD card. A word of warning about the Inateck adapter: you have to use its power cord instead of the USB cord that comes with the mini, and it's significantly shorter.
u/BigDogz75 · 4 pointsr/miniSNESmods

It's those generic octopus adapters. I have had 3 in total and they all just quit working but still able to power on the device. It's bad solder jobs on the boards or just cheap boards altogether, or both. I ordered one of these and not had 1 single problem for almost a year now!

u/Ramiller1988 · 4 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

Inateck or the octopus one, they are adding network support in future so want more then one USB port

You want an OTG Hub like this one. Obviously you'd need to get one that's compatible with your phone (microUSB, USB C, or Lightning)

u/Deadly_Fire_Trap · 3 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

If your gonna spend $9USD on an OTG please consider this one instead, it's fantastic:

Seconded. I recommend this OTG cable over the Innateck hub many people use due to durability issues.
https://www.amazon.com/ANRANK-MO2001AK-Samsung-Phones-Tablets/dp/B07PCPWYQR
Most people seem to recommend the Innateck, and its easy to see the advantages, the primary being extra controller ports.

I use a SanDisc Cruiser Glide 64gb thumb drive. I keep a backup copy of my Hakchi folder along side the exported data so I can make changes where ever I take my NESC. It can take hours to export, be warned!

u/frozensushii · 2 pointsr/miniSNESmods

I use this, it works great:

OTG Hub & SD Card Reader

u/hoodatninja · 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

Just get a hub to run in the back via the power supply, no need to mod anything. That's the one I use. Works great. I run Bleemsync on a USB through that.

u/rhcplive · 2 pointsr/miniSNES

I use this microSD card to USB adapter, which came with one of my miscroSD cards:https://www.picclickimg.com/00/s/MTA2NlgxNjAw/z/kHYAAOSwjDZYgO3E/$/SANDISK-NEW-Micro-SD-to-USB-Memory-Card-_1.jpg

looks like this when the microSD card is inside: https://www.picclickimg.com/00/s/MTA2NlgxNjAw/z/DhEAAOSw9GhYgO3J/$/SANDISK-NEW-Micro-SD-to-USB-Memory-Card-_57.jpg

then I plug this inside the OTG, I ordered this, which gave me two adapters with different angles and one of them fits for the snes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333312241438

but of course you can also go for something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCBXIY8

if you use the multi OTG, you can just stick your SD card or microSD card inside one of its slots and won't have to use any USB adapter.

u/DanTheMan827 · 2 pointsr/nesclassicmods

or you could've just copied the list here...

OTG Adapters for the NES/SNES Classic: Inateck:
https://www.rakuten.com/shop/inateck/product/HB3001G/
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Inateck-3-Port-USB-2-0-OTG-Hub-Adapter-Cable-SD-Card-Reader-for-Smartphone/602986265
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCBXIY8
Note: Only the USB 2.0 version is compatible with the NES/SNES Classic out of the box. You would need an adapter for the USB-C version to connect to the NESC/SNESC, and whether it actually would work is currently unknown.

Also, be aware that it uses its own power cable instead of the NES/SNES Classic's USB cable, and it is very short (roughly 12-14 inches long).Consider getting an extension USB cable or using an extension cord.

TUSITA ("octopus" style): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LTHBCNM
This one has been reported as working for many people, but can also reportedly break easily.

Simpler OTGs:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FY9Z9GD
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JCZ2FQQ
OTGs like these have only one port for USB. A simple choice if you only want to use USB and not wifi...or vice versa.

We do not recommend the small angled adapter featured on snesclassicmods.com and elsewhere. It looks great, but easily loses data connection at the slightest nudge.

u/FaberfoX · 2 pointsr/nexusplayer

I'm using one like this. I had issues ar first with the storage merging using a micro sd card, it would work for a little while and then stop being recognized, so I replaced it with a really old WD Passport 120GB USB HD I had and so far had no issues. With this hub, the drive works without needing an external power supply. I also tried just a micro USB otg adapter and a regular hub, but that didn't power the drive. I also used an ethernet usb adapter plugged into the hub until recently, when I replaced my router with an AC one. I haven't tried moonlight as I have an ati card, but remotr works pretty well.

u/FrizzIeFry · 2 pointsr/miniSNESmods

my first experiences with external storage were really bad too. I had blackscreens, crashes and was send back to menu a lot. All this was causes by the subpar OTG connector i used ( it was one of these )

Once i switched to the Inateck OTG HUB it has been rocksolid.

Of course that's just my experience and your problems might be rooted elsewhere.

u/VinceBee · 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

You can have OTG working as well as AutoBleem.

You need to install the initial Bleemsync 1.1 kernal update then run AutoBleem afterwards via the power port.

Lots of folks use the Inatek powered OTG adapter : https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=inateck+usb+hub&qid=1563829842&s=gateway&sr=8-5

With the above usb hub..you can also use sd cards and eliminate a usb drive altogether. I use a micro sd card and don't have any problems with it getting hot or overheating like a usb drive.

u/finaleclipse · 2 pointsr/photography

Something like an OTG cable + card reader should be able to allow your tablet to see the camera files on the card.

u/BsLeNuL · 2 pointsr/miniSNESmods

I'm using the Inateck one (which I use also to add more games on my system with a USB drive): https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8

It's not sexy at all because you have that on the back of your console + the Retro Receiver with its tiny USB cable hanging, but it works :p

u/IncendiaryIdea · 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8

If you're going to buy something, people recommend that one. It is an OTG hub so you can connect stuff to it and try to keep the front ports clear. But sometimes there are some annoyances with doing that. I would totally keep the adapters in the front ports ... should help with the connection, too.

u/BL4Z3D247 · 2 pointsr/PlaystationClassic

OTG replaces it. The kind of OTG adapter/cable/hub you get can cover all scenarios.

If you plan on playing game with more than 2 players you can get the Inateck OTG hub or the TUSITA "octopus" OTG cable.

https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8

https://www.amazon.com/TUSITA-Adaptor-Charging-Adapter-Raspberry/dp/B00LTHBCNM

If you just are going to be playing 1-2 player games and only want a minimal OTG adapter I recommend the 90° left angled OTG adapter or the standard OTG cable.

u/DARK_HURRiKANE · 1 pointr/miniSNESmods

Yes. Installing the Memory Booster hmod will tell your SNESc the next time it's booted up to create a swap file on your USB drive that is inserted into an OTG device.

I use the following devices. From my research the USB drive is the fastest slim style on the market ... for that price. It loads Sega CD & PS1 games pretty fast.

I'm planning a back packing trip in a few months and am putting things together getting ready for it. I want to shoot a bunch of video and will be gone for over a week so I need a way to make backups into a portable hard drive as having the necessary amount of 64g or 128g SD cards would be prohibitively expensive.

I tried an OTG hub/reader like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCBXIY8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with my Nexus 5, and it worked as advertised but it seems Android doesn't support ExFAT which is what newer cameras write to these days.

Has anyone else run into a similar situation? I'm looking at cheap Windows tablets but concerned about the quality and reliability.

tl;dr, how do you make backups in the wild without a full blown laptop?

u/eroxx · 1 pointr/miniSNESmods

This is what I got. I can’t figure out how to get power to it.

Would this be a good otg adapter if I wanted to increase my space for stuff like ps1 games? :P

[OTG Hub & SD Card Reader] Inateck Multi-in-1 OTG Adapter Cable, TF SDHC Card Reader, USB 2.0 Compact OTG Adapter Hub for USB On-The-Go Compatible Devices, Smartphones and Tablets PC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCBXIY8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-GiQBb1AT61R4

This is the best and fastest adapter you can buy.

Also I haven’t seen anyone use that flash drive before... idk might be the adapter or the flash drive since you claim you are doing everything right on the console and stuff

u/RazHawk · 1 pointr/miniSNESmods

I don't have first hand experience as I only use the angled OTG adapter but this is the hub tested and recommended by most here on reddit from what i've seen:

https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8

u/Acmnin · 1 pointr/miniSNESmods

FYI I'm using this, https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8

Any known issues with connections? It seemed to be the best rated around here.

u/LudensDude · 1 pointr/miniSNESmods

Thanks! I was looking at that one but the negative reviews were making me hesitant.

Would this one work too?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCBXIY8/

u/kheszi · 1 pointr/prius

You don't need a laptop, just get an OTG USB hub that supports simultaneous access to multiple devices, like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Adapter-Compact-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B00OCBXIY8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1468527555&sr=8-2&keywords=otg+hub

Then buy yourself one 256GB microSD card, and one 256GB SD card. Plug everything in, and now you have 500+GB of music available to any Android device that supports OTG USB interface. Connect to the car via Bluetooth and you're good to go.
