Yeah I was nearly tripped up by that for Splendor. I didn't notice the price changed until it was in my cart. I guess they only have a certain number of "sale units" before the price goes back to normal.

That said, you might have luck contacting Amazon about it if you mention the sale was listed on the page when you visited. I once had them refund me a similar price discrepancy after the fact (though obviously there's no guarantee).

EDIT: Also check out the Amazon price tracker this sub loves, CamelCamelCamel. It shows \u\JolliGreenGiant's price of $19.54.

I would suggest the 2-player specific version of Agricola, Agricola All Creatures Big and Small. It's a lighter version of Agricola, specifically designed for 2 players.

You may also want to check out some Co-ops like Forbidden Desert, Pandemic, or Flashpoint: Fire Rescue ... all play well with 2 but support 4+

Looks like you already have some great advise on boundaries and getting your SO to assist. I would like to offer some advise on playing board games with the SD. Having just started to play games with my 11 SS, I have found cooperative games eliminates the competitive urge to cheat and whine. (I have found that these games are much better for younger players). Some good ones I have found are -

https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Point-Fire-Rescue-2nd/dp/B0084M8UEE - Flashpoint, you are working together to put out a fire.

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/199042/harry-potter-hogwarts-battle - Harry Potter board game that scales up in difficulty

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/129437/legendary-marvel-deck-building-game - Like the Harry Potter one above, only with marvel characters.

Here is flashpoint on amazon. It was on my wish list, so it was easy enough to find. I have heard great things about it, but have not played it yet myself.

Flashpoint would be my biggest recommendation. Each player is a firefighter and you are trying to save people before a building burns down. I don't think I've ever wanted to play Pandemic since getting this.

If you like fantasy settings, Temple of Elemental Evil is the latest in a series of D&D games where players each take the role of a hero, and work through a scenario. In addition to what comes in the box, there are a ton of fan-made scenarios here

I'm going to go ahead and suggest one of my favorite games. Flash Point: Fire Rescue is the one that you should definitely get.

It's a nice little coop that plays very well between 1 and 6 players. This hits the table often when my wife and I game together. You take on the role of firefighters trying to keep a fire under control/out while finding and rescuing people stuck inside. You win by rescuing at least 7 people but will lose if you let the fire get out of control. You are competing against random flare-ups every turn which go from smoke to fire. However, if you let the fire get out of hand you could have an explosion which damages the structure. Too much damage and the building will collapse causing you to lose the game.

One of the reasons I love this game is for the varying levels of complexity. It includes a beginner/family set of rules which has you play as standard fire-fighters and doesn't include some of the more challenging rules such as hot spots and hazardous materials which can cause further destruction if fire erupts in those spots. You can then advance to the experienced rules easily which includes firefighter roles and makes it so victims aren't rescued until they are in the ambulance (Beginner rules mandates they just need to be outside). This makes it easy to introduce to anyone.

The second thing that I love about it is that it's a shorter game, coming in at 45 minutes, but the tension in it can be quite high.

The base game is lovely and you can pick up some of the expansions later on give you new places to put out those fires and some extra mechanics.

I'd also recommend checking out the fan made Ladder 11 print and play expansion which changes some of the rules and gives you a campaign mode to play through. This lets you level up your firefighters and give them extra training to help combat the fire.

It can suffer from some quarterbacking just like pandemic and other co-op games but it is easily manageable.

Even if you don't pick this game, I think you should give it a look. It's quick and enjoyable, not to mention cheap since it comes in around $25-$30.

You can try Forbidden Island or Forbidden Desert .

Also as someone else recommended Flash point: Fire rescue I would say is an easier version to teach/pick up from the Pandemic series.
Castle Panic is easy to pick up as well and fun.

I own all mentioned but Forbidden Island and to start I will recommend Flash point:Fire rescue for board co-op or if your son is into tower defense Castle Panic is a great addition both games are a bit different so may want to try both: Flash Point:Fire rescue and Castle Panic
