That's about 26.3k without a GPU and a monitor, you could up to an i5 for a little extra but its worth the money if you want longetivity.

You can say in a review as many things about a HDD than about any other tech product: did the installation work well/was easy or not? were the screws and cable included or not? does the hard drive make noise when writing? is it fast when writing? is it fast when reading? etc.

I probably spent hours reading reviews about HDD (both 3,5" and external USB hard drives 2,5") and I confirm there is a strange bias, that I don't notice on other online shops.

Maybe it's linked to the fact, it's not Amazon who sell them, but third parties that might sell "seconds".

On the motherboard, you can fiddle with all the BIOS settings regarding mining, etc. I got hung up because I chose "6 cards" for mining. It did a weird POST screen and wouldn't boot. I put it on "More than 6" and it works fine (even though I only have 6).

On the Power Supply, you can just get any PSUs or any 1200W. I did notice it was pulling just over 1000W the other night but I didn't check which algorithm it was doing. There is another Corsair 1200W for $50 less than mine. I don't know the difference, but it wasn't available when I ordered, so I just threw down for $300.

For your resolution and the games you mentioned the RX 480 is more powerful than needed. The GTX 950 would be just fine.

For the i3, I'd go with the i3-6100. The H110 boards are not really more expensive, and DDR4 ram is cheap. Or do you have more than 8GB?

For the GPU, you have four options:

1. R7 370
   

• GTX 950, those two are around the same level, but this one is more expensive
  
• Currently there are some cheaper R9 285 on the market. If they cost only a little bit more than a GTX 950, 10€ like in Germany, that'd be a better choice

In case you TL;DR:

AMD is better bang for your buck. Intel is better for cutting-edge. Cutting edge is only relevant to $1500 procs, therefore anything Intel makes that's below AMDs top processor at the time, is basically overpriced.

Hey mate, I would highly recommend the Core i3 6100 over the 8350. You may need to buy a new board, but it's definitely faster.

Your PSU might not be enough for a crossfired Rx 480.

I would prioritize the monitor over the ram and rx 480.

For the performance you want, that's honestly overkill. If your son wants an explanation, please tell him that the games that he plays (Minecraft, League of Legends, Neopets, World of Warcraft) are not that graphics intensive and do not require such a highly-priced PC. Even if you did play graphics-intensive games, you can get the performance you're looking for, for much, much less.

You could put together a killer computer for about $800 or even less.

For starters, you do not need an i7. An i5, or even an i3 will do just fine for those games. Also, you do not need that CPU cooler and just use the stock one since it doesn't seem like you're planning to overclock the CPU.

32 GB of RAM is overkill for any game, regardless of what you're playing. You can get by with just 8GB of RAM, or 16GB just to be safe.

Also, you should probably wait for the GTX 1080 to drop if you're really set on getting it. It's currently way over MSRP due to the lack of stock. If you want to cut the costs a bit, and you want to future-proof the PC, you should try something like the GTX 970 or the new RX 480 after the price drops, and it will play those games perfectly fine.

As for the PSU, it looks like it costs a bit much, but it's good nonetheless. If you don't want to change that, it looks just fine to me.

The motherboard looks pretty good for the price, and the SSD and HDD are just fine as well.

Personally I would just sell the whole HP desktop on Ebay as some old person will probably buy it for a couple three hundred. Maybe you could change the Monitor to the one I suggested as it'll be bigger with the 24'' and it has pretty good reviews.

Also, try to look for 1x8GB, not 2x4GB. Your motherboard only has 2 RAM slots, so if you want to upgrade in the future, you'll need to throw out your 2x4GB. If you get 1x8GB there will be no problem. If you do not plan on upgrading any time soon, just go with 2x4GB as RAM usually runs better in Dual Channel.

How important is the number of cores for a CPU? I'd like to buy this CPU, but I'm not sure. How is it? Can I get 720p@30fps with this CPU, a GTX 580 and 8 GB of RAM?

The 1st gen i3 will never hold up in 2016. The problem is, upgrading your cpu to say, an i3 6100 means a motherboard upgrade, which means RAM upgrades too. Here's probably the cheapest upgrade route which should make the machine a 1080p beast:

do you have a recommendation for a motherboard ~$100 with the Z170M and LGA1151 socket?

i'm leaning towards going with the i3-6100 and something like the ASRock Z170M Pro4S using the onboard graphics for now and giving him the option to add a dedicated card as he finds the need.

The stuttering, not sure if it's fixed or not. Blacklight retribution stuttered like crazy, dx11 fixed stutter but broke the game(google search confirmed dx11 is broke for that game), jumped in planetside 2 later and seemed to not stutter and looked smoother, but could just be random luck and will be back next time I play :/ As far as Ryzen, was looking at it but kinda questioning it though. The leaked benchmarks look to be between the i7 6800k and i7 6900k, but for gaming looked to fall between the i5 6500 and the i5 6600(the difference was only a couple percent between both the i5's and the Ryzen). Also seems all the Ryzen versions are overclockable, as long as you have one of the boards they allow you to overclock on(which was like 3).The price is unknown at this point, so who knows if the Ryzen or an i5 would be better for the price, and for all we know the benchmarks might look good but then the Ryzen could just fall on it's face when thrown in with different systems once released.

Yeah kinda figured, just was thinking of upgrading the ram because in planetside 2 my ram usage goes up to 88%(that's without ultra textures, that says uses more ram. Got similar usage when on all low even). Guess im basically running out of ram though. Game itself is eating up almost 6gb of ram(as my system idles around 1.80-2.30gb, not sure why it jumps around so much from start up to start up though)

Hi, So I built my current rig back in April 2017 and thought I'd upgrade this black friday but I dont know what to upgrade. I'm running:

This is the only PC I've ever built and I've never upgraded before. I would like to upgrade my CPU because its an i3 and I know its getting outdated but I dont know if thats the only thing needing an upgrade. I usually get 150+ frames on Counter-Strike and around 120fps on Overwatch but these are all on low settings. However I just recently bought BO4 and can barely run at 60 fps at low. Any advice as to what processor I need to upgrade to?

So in regards to Cpu's something like this would be a good subistute. But right now I'm swapping around parts and for the price it's looking like building a computer that's smaller than an ATX might be where the money is.

With the money left, get a good keyboard and mouse, cabinet and PSU. Don't cheap out on PSU. this build is built around monitor. That is why cheaper parts.

Do all i3-6100 CPU's come with a heatsink fan? I'd like to get it from amazon but it doesn't say anything about a heatsink.

Best GPU in that price range is probably the rx 460. It'll run all those games easily at med/high settings 60 fps. However you should really get a new motherboard and CPU because I imagine a 10 year old CPU will bottleneck any current card hard, even a low end one.

It would cost about $160 but a core i3 and motherboard like this would run great.

I've just had a Google around (and had a play with System Requirements Lab) - I'm not too bothered about playing it on the laptop, but once the new computer arrives i might look at upgrading the CPU.

I like it, but could use some tweaking. The gpu is not necessary, I'd rather save $100 and use onboard graphics; all of my other computers that I built have 3 monitors with no GPU and no lag/stutter. I also think 16gb of RAM is a requirement as chrome uses so much ram and considering its' price it is most likely money well spent. Also, the harddrive is probably not necessary either I don't think.

Edit: Here is the SSD I got for $38 back in june of 2016 (ADATA USA Premier SP550 120GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive ASP550SS3-120GM-C). Not sure as to why the price is higher now than it was before, but surely there must be a black friday deal for a 120gb ssd?

Don't buy another AMD processor.

Go with an i3-6100 and pick out a motherboard from here, you can easily keep that under 200 GBP and still use the rest of your components.

I'm upgrading soon (from a Core2Duo!) to [this Skylake i3] (https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80662I36100-i3-6100-Cache-Processor/dp/B015VPX2EO?ie=UTF8&tag=logicaincrem-20). I was doing some reading and people say that all LGA 115x slots use the same mounting scheme, so if a heat sink works with an LGA 1156 for example, it should work with LGA 1151.

My issue right now is I'm thinking about cleaning and re-using my old heat sink, which is this Thermaltake TT-8085A and is compatible with LGA 1156.

So, my question is, is this a good idea or should I just buy a new heatsink?

Ok, first, it's a strange idea to bet on a I5 and NVIDIA when you're stretched by a very small budget since ATI and AMD are way cheapers, and not worst.

Anyway, i tried to build something very nice from Amazon, which is an other strange idea because if Amazon is really nice for his customer support, he's not as good as you may think to buy at smallest costs. In France (i'm french, by the way), you should really take a looks at large online supermarkets like CDiscount, etc.
