I5-3470

Asus 660ti

You will need to have the 2.10 firmware to use the new cpu.

If you're not overclocking then you can save a bit on the processor

I've updated with more about the specs. Not 100% certain on the motherboard, but as for CPU I would most likely upgrade to a this model

Hi, so I got a pre-built PC years ago and have done an upgrade only to the graphics card. Over the years my computer has gotten slower and I also can't play some old games as good as I use to, performance-wise. I'm really having trouble playing PUBG, The Division, GTA 5, Battlefiled 3. When a lot happens in these games at once the games just stutter. The worst is when in PUBG my FPS drops heavily when I get shot, causing me to lose in a gunfight. In Division the map takes way too long to load and is not completed as I'm exploring more.

Here's my build according to Speccy (a hardware detecting software):

Operating System
Windows 10 Education 64-bit

CPU
Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 (9-9-9-24)

Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8B75-M LX PLUS (LGA1155)

Graphics
22EN33 (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (Gigabyte)

Storage
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-00KUWA0 (SATA )

Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSB0

Audio
Logitech G933 Gaming Headset

So here are my questions: Should I switch my CPU to Intel Core i5-3470 Quad-Core Processor 3.2 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155? Will my overall PC performance increase significantly if I use this CPU? Please keep in mind I have an old motherboard which means I can only use LGA1155 CPU sockets instead of the more modern LGA1151.

If you are willing to go AMD, you have the 8320. If you're not, consider the i5-3470, as if anything happens to your video card, you won't necessarily have to replace it to use the computer again.

I can't say for sure that this is a simple question, but I don't feel as though this requires it's own post.

I'm looking at upgrading my processor (an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T) but I don't know what I should upgrade to. After looking at benchmarks and prices I feel like [this] (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0087EVHVW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=ALMGMPH6QS3S&coliid=I2SLDP3JIS4Y1) would be a good idea, but I can't find a reasonable motherboard. They're either too expensive or don't have what I want, and the only ones that are ideal are out of stock. To add to that I would need new RAM as well, although at this point I'm wanting to get more RAM anyway.

I'm alternatively looking at just getting an AMD FX-6300, but it doesn't seem like it will be very future-proof.

Right now my specs are:

  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
  • GPU: PNY Geforce GTX 660
  • MoBo: Gigabyte 970A-D3P
  • RAM: Corsair XMS3 (2 x 4GB, 1333MHz)
  • PSU: Corsair TX750
  • OS: Windows 10

Another important detail is I'm Canadian, which means I'll be paying about 1.34x as much money as an american. I'm trying to budget, but can certainly afford to go crazy if ideal.

With all this in mind, do you think I should upgrade most of my system for a new processor? Or should I just get another AMD processor compatible with my current rig? Thanks in advance and sorry if it's too much to take in.
