> They seem very power efficient, but the matching mainboards often require DDR4 RAM which seems very expensive for now. Your thoughts on that?

I'm actually surprised by how much the price for DDR4 went down. When picking the cheap offers they cost the same, at least I saw that just now for 8GB.

300 FPS CS:Go builds are hard. There are no proper current benchmarks, and the videos on youtube are hard to interpret. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Iuu4vYkPCg for example, a i5-4690K is around equal to a i5-6600K, and those are not stable 300FPS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2pGQjGWC7g however shows them, so I will go with its skylake equivalent and such a gpu, but state that the GTX 980 normally is not the best price/performance pick, a GTX 970 might be better for you. But https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y72w1JrudUk does not seem that stable to me. You yee: complicated.

I would welcome corrections/experience reports from other redditors here.

I'd suggest overclocking the cpu, but that collides with your energy efficiency goal. However, you should get skylake to reduce energy usage. Intel increased performance per watt on the new platform, that was the main change.

The resulting build is sadly over your initial budget, but you said hard requirement for CS:GO, so here it goes:

You would have to double the ram. And you might want to switch gpu and mainboard to your preferred vendors.

Woah that does seem a bit high, here was me complaining Americans get it lucky with components prices. Amazon.co.uk is usually my go to place. But I also use a few other shops. Here is 16GB 3000MHz RAM, fancy stuff with the LEDs on it for £90(€109) and the 2400MHz corsair stuff is very close in price, there is also this 16GB 2400MHz for £70(€85). i7 are around £300(€360)

Finally, after all these reviews, i'm going to buy these pieces and build my masterpiece-wannabe.

I would like to thanks /u/Raffles7683 for his dedicated, nice and smart help ! Also, thanks to /u/DIK-FUK and /u/golli123.

That's it, the final configuration, which is 2€ cheaper than the first one. WHAT A SAVE. But it's all the way better. I finally picked a I7-6700k as a CPU since nobody seems to know at which point a I5-6600k will bottleneck the GTX 1080, even with a 4.5 Ghz overclock. The debate is running litteraly everywhere and no one has the same point of view. So... I guess i can throw 100€ by the window to be sure and to overlock a i7 to 4.4 Ghz.

The CPU has been edited according to /u/Raffles7683's review and /u/DIK-FUK's build suggest. And updated, because no one knows what is a bottleneck, in real world.
The RAM / SSD has been edited according to /u/Raffles7683's review, again.

I will provide some news in the future with, probably, in build photos :)

The lowest price from an Amazon seller is £273.99 according to CCC, so this is pretty good for those building a Skylake machine.

Any additional information:

6 months, March 1st build. Used less than 4 months. Been sitting around in the box since July.

It was to be my ongoing project but unfortunately I'm selling as I've had to buy a laptop to work in the city half the week and really don't need two high spec machines in the house (some photos in the gallery at the end).

Clean install Win10 currently loaded, if you're looking for a high spec machine or want to get into gaming/VR just drop a video card in and you're off to the races (which is what I was going to do). Otherwise the machine works amazing as is.

Google the case NZXT Manta some really cool stuff you can do with this mini tower. I had it on my desk as it's a real beauty.

Drop me any questions or photo requests.

Does it make sense to buy

u/GrisTooki · 1 pointr/JapanTravel

You still seem to be missing the point. I'm not saying that Japan is cheap, I'm saying that it could be cheaper than some places.

And you've given one example, but you can easily find product that demonstrate a very different pattern:

309.99 in the US (not including local sales tax, which must be computed based on where you live at the time of checkout)

$382.65 (£307.99) in the UK

$358.93 (¥ 40,470) in Japan

So what would be some good CPU's to base a build on?

The i7-6700K @ 4.0 ghz for LGA1151 architecture -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010T6DQTQ or i5 alternative

The i7-4790k @ 4.0 ghz for LGA 1150 architecture -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KPRWAX8 or i5 alternative

and the i7-2600K @3.4 ghz for LGA 1155 architecture -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004FA8NOQ (Can't be bothered to find an i5 alternative).

I'd love to see a proper break down of FPS for difference CPUs

Edit - see a great response from /u/randonneur16
