Ryzen 7 1700 on sale $290 (base price $330)
Ryzen 7 1700x on sale $325 (base price $400)
Intel 7700k on sale $309 (base price $350)
30% is huge misinformation, these are way more similarly priced than people like to admit. 30% would put the Intel at over 400 dollars on sale. The AMD bias is ridiculous as of late.
Dude I love you for that meme, we say that at work all the time lol.

When you say upgrade, from what? Do you have a z170 motherboard?
Also $350 doesn't sound like a sale, sounds like full price. You can get an unlocked 7700K on amazon for cheaper and that can overclock.
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216
8700k is last gen and so stock is getting low, prices are unlikely to drop a ton outside of certain circumstances, odds are that price might even go up.
EDIT: take a look at 7700k price: https://smile.amazon.com/Intel-i7-7700K-Desktop-Processor-unlocked/dp/B01MXSI216/
>Just looking for suggestions on what type of CPU and GPU I should be looking towards and I can figure out the rest.
In terms of the CPU, you have a couple options.
If you want the best gaming performance, you'll want the i7 7700k and a Z270 motherboard and a cooler. This specific combo comes to about $620~ +tax & shipping.
On the other hand, if you'd like to save some money, you can choose the Ryzen 1600 (or Ryzen 1700) and pair it with a B350 motherboard. The combo is a mere $380~ +tax (or $450 with the 1700). Also, pair a couple sticks of high speed RAM with Ryzen (3000 - 3200MHz) and you'll see significant performance gains in your games.
AMD's Ryzen is definitely the best value on the market right now, with that being said the 7700k is the undisputed winner when it comes to gaming performance. When it comes to a graphics card, you'll want to pick up a 1080ti (wait until you can get one of these for $900 or less, check r/bapcsalescanada several times daily and you can snag a good deal) if you want to game in 4k. However, if you'll just be playing games @ 1080p in your VR headset you can probably safely pick up the cheaper 1080 or 1070 cards.
For your 4K monitor there are a lot of options and it really depends what is on sale when you buy. The LG 27UD58-B is well regarded and a great value currently.
just saying, 7700k is on sale for 290 right now
So, for $973 here is the list of components you can actually buy:
cooler, which is optional
motherboard
Cpu
Ram
Gpu
hard drive
case
PSU
I did what I could to save where I could and allocate elsewhere. You won't need to upgrade too soon from this moving forward. If you'd rather go cheaper I can help with that as well.
Thank you for replying. I think I will just return both my 1080s and get the Xp since it is the same price. Is the Titan Xp different than the other Titans? When I look at the prices on Amazon compared to the Nvidia link you graciously provided, the price difference the X (very expensive) and the Xp (cheaper) is astounding.
I am going to order the Xp now. Thank you for linking me to it. Is this CPU good enough for the Titan?: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXSI216/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When trying to decide on what power your PC needs a good website to use is http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/ - it'll give you a general idea since I get confused with all the "i7/i5/i3 XXXX gen X" nonsense too.
That'll build you a tower. Then you just need external components. Monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, chair, desk, etc. Depending on what you have available and stuff it can vary so I'll let you price out that stuff.
$1,358 pre-taxes if you go with i7 8700k, and GTX 1060 3 GB. For the tower. Taxes in, plus all the other components you're still looking at pushing close to $2000. That's CND I think. If you do a little shopping around you might get a decent deal on a few items and look into different price points between AMD and Intel if you choose their Board/Chip/GPU combos.
Also $295 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216

There is one problem I'm seeing, which is that your MOBO is for overclocking, but your CPU isnt, so I suggest that you get the i7-7700k (https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501567034&sr=1-1&keywords=i7+7700k) and put a nice cooler on there, like the NZXT Kraken if you like pretty lights and such, or any other AIO cooler probably. Also, the most recent system memory is DDR4 and DDR5 is only for GPU's right now (technically GDDR5 but who cares). Another concern is storage, you didn't mention that, and I'm not sure but that PSU might not have enough wattage, I'm not suure, correct me if I'm wrong. Also as a last note, it might be comfort more than anything at this point but it might be a good idea to get 8 more gigs of RAM, but Corsair has some of the best RAM modules.
Sure you can, long as you have reference price. Like this one
I lived in both Asia and North America. The price of computer component really doesn't differ that much. It is mostly Europe and Australia that are different.
BAD DEAL. YOU CAN GET YOUR OWN 7700k ON AMAZON AND GET A SNACK WITH IT.
Corsair Vengeance RAM is good, and yes, you'll need to upgrade.

Dude do the fucking research, it's right here in front of you. No one has paid $399 for an i7 6700k since like a month after it came out. The article is comparing inflated MSRP prices to Microcenter sale prices. It's clickbait bro. Yes $250 is a crazy good deal but this is about clearing inventory, not Ryzen shitting on Intel before it's even released.

There's no point in buying 6700K when 7700K is literally cheaper and 8700K is releasing in a few days, along with new motherboards.
Anyway, pairing the i7 with a 1060 is a waste of money for the i7, you're better off buying Ryzen 1600 and GTX1080, or just keeping the 1060 and get Ryzen 1600 or even 1500X. If you do stick with 1060, don't get the mini one, Define Mini C will easily accommodate dual/triple fan cards (better cooling, less noise)
550W will be enough, unless you're getting the 1080 then pick 650W.
Also yeah, 6700K/7700K don't come with a CPU cooler, Ryzen 1500X and 1600 do.
You are looking for a newer 4-core CPU like the Intel i7 6700K, Intel i7 7700K, or any of the Ryzen 5 CPUs.
For you video card, you want the most amount of memory possible a GTX 1060 has 3 GB and a GTX 1080 has 8 GB. Always try and get the best video card you can afford. This is one of the most important parts of your build.
Your memory doesn't really matter as long as you have at least 8-16 GB (preferably 16 GB). Your motherboard also doesn't matter unless you want RGB (lights) or Wi-Fi built into it.
Well I was looking at this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01MXSI216 and this: https://www.amazon.ca/GIGABYTE-GA-Z270X-Ultra-Gaming-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B01N66ZESI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504746560&sr=1-1&keywords=GIGABYTE+GA-Z270X-Ultra+Gaming to go with what I have already.

Would these work with my system? and do you think that this would fix my problem?
Everyone recommending a Ryzen 5 1600 here is crazy. I'm assuming you'll be mainly gaming (no video rendering or editing) and the Ryzen 5 1600 would bottlenec the 1080ti for sure and probably the 1080 also. hat's espcially true for 60fps. My recommendation is a 7700k, or a 7600k if you can't afford the full i7. The 7700k is the decidedly best gaming cpu (and all that anyone pretty much ever needs unless you do professional stuff like 3D modeling) so that would be your best choice.

Ok, yeah I had heard of just some other minor problems even with the clover patches so would feel better without.
so this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G3HLOYY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
and this
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501442015&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+7700k
would be better?
I don't know honestly, thats just what my friend told me to do lol.
So I discovered there is a newer version of that processor here. If I wanted to upgrade to this, what else would I have to upgrade, and if its not too much of a bother would you mind linking me what exactly you would recommend purchasing in that category if that makes sense? You said that I would need to upgrade my motherboard and RAM and such, what exactly should I upgrade it to is what I'm asking, links would be very much appreciated. :)
here's the processor i mentioned above:
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1499856273&sr=1-1&keywords=i7+7700k
its $310 and has a processor speed of 4.2 GHz, but again im pretty new to the whole processor/PC building thing so there's probably more to the comparison than i am aware of.
Also i'm not sure if this is the same processor but i found a ryzen 5 1600 on amazon for $200, as compared to the $295 one listed on PCpartPicker link below:
https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Cooler-YD1600BBAEBOX/dp/B06XNRQHG4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499856568&sr=1-1&keywords=AMD+-+Ryzen+5+1600+3.2GHz+6-Core+Processor
I'm going on the i7-4790k being equivalent because AMD fans have said the i7-7700k is equivalent to the best Ryzen CPU whilst also saying the i7-7700k is essentially the same as an i7-4790k.
How is AMD sticking to their sockets for longer periods a good thing? Not releasing a new architecture is five years is barely a good thing at all.
The DDR3 issue with the i7-4790k is there, sure.
However, the i7-4790k is only £20 more than the i7-7700k, with the i7-7700 being cheaper than both.
> IPC
Good point, don't fall into the Ghz myth. Regarding the recent reviews about AMD R*, they are 12% more efficient in IPC than Kaby Lake.
It still leads me to consider Kaby Lake (or Skylake) chip because when it comes to compare single thread performances, Ryzen CPU's score has to be scaled up (by deleting Intel's cache).
Thus, despite all rumours, Ryzen is not that cheap... When you don't include a ridiculously overpriced CPU like the i7 6900K which is 10% better than a i7 7700K and 700$ more:
A 4th generation processor? Eww... (And its not compatible with that mobo)

Would you consider the rest of the build solid?
Alright from what you telling me i should just wait on buying anything?
i went ahead and looked around from the info you gave me and i came up with this
cpu in stock in like 3 days
gpu or Gpu
I currently have an Intel Core I7-4790 3.6GHz, 4 Cores, 8 logical processors, but im looking to buy this one in the future
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i7-7700K-QuadCore-Cache-Processor/dp/B01MXSI216

and thank you cos the 7700k is the one im looking to buy ahaha
Would THIS - THIS - and THIS work together?
The mobo is Z270 and the RAM says Z170... issue?
I am getting this cpu: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i7-7700K-QuadCore-Cache-Processor/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1491069404&sr=1-1&keywords=intel+core+i7+7700k
And I think I'll be sticking to the stock cooler for a month or so, and after, maybe get this cooler: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Fans-Cooling/Noctua-NH-U14S-Ultra-Quiet-Cooler-NF-A15/B00C9FLSLY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1491069450&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=cpu+cooler&psc=1
>and another $1500 for a computer to run it.
A GTX 970 is VR ready, and it's new gen equivilent GTX 1070 is also VR ready.
In total, if you were to scrimp on everything excluding the GPU and CPU, you're looking at maybe $1,000 for some of the high-end parts. Even with a i7 7700k you're only spending maybe $700 on both parts
$1500 would be for a top-of-the-line, future proof (for like, 1 generation) system. Maybe $900 total for a decent system that can easily handle VR.

Now the 7700 and 8800 apparently have minimal differences. I would go with the cheaper one, but then again it's only an extra 20-30$ why not just go with the 8700k.
It's a terrible time to buy GFX cards right now since everyone in their mother is mining coins. I would go with this card though. I have a card like this and its perfect.

i7 5960X is bad example. i7 7700k, cheaper and faster than 5960X, also more eager to overclock than Threadripper

They both specify LGA 1151 Socket type, but the MBD also says (300 series). I plugged my build into a benchmark website, and it tells me they are incompatible. Thanks for the help!

I'm not one to give advice on PC builds but I almost went with the 7700K and considered the 8700K for the viewport speed. I decided to go with the threadripper because you can still overclock them to 4GHz and I do plan on going with 4 gpus in the future. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, probably won't for another couple of weeks.
EDIT: I have read that the 7700K gives you the best single thread performance for both C4D and AE and they are on sale at Amazon.ca
Hi all, I just ordered my Steam Link and am preparing to finally play Witcher 3 on my new tv. Just thought I'd check here how my specs look (pretty sure it's time for a CPU upgrade).
Here's a screenshot of my original specs, fear not, I managed to nab one of these badboys for £330 a few months back.
The i5 is pretty solid and has served me well but I doubt it'll be able to tank this unfortunately, what would you guys recommend for a necessary upgrade?
I've done a bit of research and was thinking about buying one of these:
Ryzen 7, £230
i7-7700K, £280
Not sure whether this is overkill, I'm not super good at this stuff, thanks in advance!
This is my current build
I’m looking to upgrade and my first thought is looking at the graphics card or the processor since I primarily use it for gaming and photo editing. My budget is $250-300 and looking on my own I was thinking about the GTX 1060 or the Intel i7 7700k but I wanted to get some input before making any purchases.

There is eBay and Craigslist, but one could also find those other CPUs I mentioned about on those sites as well.
the Amazon listings for the Kaby Lake chips have been removed now...wonder why?

That markup is brutal. I only paid $350 here.

> i5-7400
What about this one?
I ordered this i7-7700k and just received it in the mail. When purchasing this item on amazon, it said 4.5Ghz turbo frequency. I also saw that it was $50.00 more than this i7-7700k that was 4.2Ghz. When I opened my package, it says 4.2Ghz. What's going on? Is there even such thing as a 4.5Ghz i7 or did I pay $50.00 extra for the same 4.2Ghz I could of got for cheaper?
I still doubt that was the final retail price. Lets see if it still holds true. I'd wait for another retailer price like enterkomputer or the others. If you told me Indonesian tax is cheaper for electronics, can you explain how an 1080 strix in amazon cost $650 while in enterkomputer or other retailer the price is sitting around $885
That's 30% difference for strix. Let's see if it still applies to other product / manufacturer. 7700K in Amazon cost $357 while in enterkomputer and others it sits around $404 and that's 12% in difference. AMD FX-9590 in amazon cost $220 and its $262 in enterkomputer and nanokomputer. That's 17% difference. I did the calculation assuming 1 USD = 13000 IDR. I won't say the tax is cheap. Probably jd.id is just trying to match the prices with retail one in USA and when the real stuff coming out of our customs, expect around 10% price difference and add another 5%-10% for the greedy distributor
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Desktop-Processor-i7-7700K-BX80677I77700K/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493492377&sr=1-1&keywords=7700k
$42 difference.
edit: wtf, can you guys do the math?
$381.77
- 7700k$339.00
=$42.77
LOL
