  1. Yes, I do this all the time. Since it doesn't always work for you, you might be suffering from the ever-present issue with Phone Key being crud on Android (if you have one). I have an iPhone, and this generally works. I've had it fail like twice in the 4 months I've owned the car.

  2. Yes, opening the app will wake the car, and will reset the timer for how long the car waits before attempting to go to sleep. I tend to avoid opening the app until I really need to if I know my car is already asleep and I'm not about to use it.

  3. Invisible Glass might help. I use it for the interior of my windshield, and it seems to work well.

Make sure whatever you use for liquids can contain the fluids should the entire container leak. Also be mindful if the fluid can freeze. Pretty annoying when you try to clean the inside of your windows and find that the stuff has frozen solid...

Sidebar, can't recommend Magic Glass Invisible Glass interior glass cleaner enough. It is tint safe and smells pretty good IMO. The kit with the cleaning wand is the bee's knees.

Clean newspaper sheets and Windex? (assuming you mean a nuisance coating?) Also, try denatured alcohol (wear nitrile gloves or something, keep open air and don't have any ignition sources around). They make chamois ("shammy") cloths specifically for cleaning windows'/windshields' interior, I think. Also, they have these microfiber pad-on-a-stick tools meant for windshields too. Frankly, a hammer or similar object will do the best job getting that pesky obstruction out of the way.
