Small head, looking for slim profile headphones. I will sacrifice some sound quality for a pair that dont look like I have two Nikon zoom lenses strapped to my ear. They MUST have a built in mic, as I telecommute. Bonus points for a retro look.
I went throught the sidebar and didnt see too much. Here's what im thinking so far. Persuade me otherwise. Thanks all!

EDIT: Budget <100, On or Over ear. Inline mic preferred.

Making a Christmas list. Considering sticking a headset on there, with the Logitech G633, Razer Kraken Pro, Plantronics RIG 500HC or 500E, and the Skullcandy SLYR being contenders at the moment.

Budget: $150 max

Source: Mostly desktop/Macbook, though PS4 is a possibility

Isolation: Some. I would love to say total isolation, but I live in a house with my family and I would like to keep some amount of situational awareness. :P

Location: Home

Preferred type: Full-sized over, or on, maybe open-back though probably closed due to family members using the same rooms I would be in. Almost definitely required to have a microphone included. Would greatly prefer wired.

Tonal balance: Unsure. I'm not exactly an audiophile, but I do love listening to music and high-action gaming like Battlefield 4. I greatly appreciate bass, but not when it's muddy. With all sorts of musical interests I suppose what I'm probably looking for is an overall balance and clarity. Nothing overly-trebled.

Past headphones:

  • Creative Fatal1ty headset: I can't remember what I thought of the Fatal1ty set at the moment, though I seem to recall some comfort issues after long-term use. One of the ears went out after a bad drop so I switched to...

  • J-Lab INTRO headset. The INTRO set is pretty nice but again I'm not an audiophile so I don't have anything high-end to compare them to. They were comfy after some band break-in, though I think I overdid it as they tend to slide off if I forget to hold them on my head while taking a drink or if I'm falling asleep in my chair. They've been pretty durable for a couple of years now though. The inline mic is... okay AFAIK (obviously not studio-quality lol), but isn't ideal due to the nature of being on the cord.

Preferred music: Hoo boy. Here goes.

  • TSO (they have a wide variety of music; this is but one sample)

  • Queen

  • Sabaton

  • Pentatonix (I listen to the two below along with Battlefield 4 to test new earbuds and audio settings)

  • Ex. 1

  • Ex. 2

  • Lindsey Stirling

  • Tourniquet

  • Moody Blues

  • Electro-Swing

  • Ex. 1 - yeah pretty much the entire mix

  • Ex. 2

  • Occasional dubstep/EDM, some chiptune

  • Classical music (orchestral, piano, movie scores)

  • So much more.

Improvements: Better mic quality for chat and recording. Better overall audio quality. Moveable mic that isn't on a cord. :P I know I won't really be getting high-end sound/mic quality out of a headset with this budget, but I'm definitely wanting it to be better than what I have.

    Desires:

  • Good surround for high-action gaming (though I hear "actual" surround speakers cause issues, so I'd probably stick with high-quality stereo with virtual surround).

  • On-phone or inline controls for speaker and mic mute, possibly in/out volume as well.

  • Good comfort for long-term use. I'm on my PC pretty much all day when I'm not at work.

  • I don't want to have to use an amp.
