This isn't expensive compared to this SD card on Amazon. SD cards are expensive, in fact this seems to be even cheaper.
A SanDisk 16 gb sd card is currently 9.95 USD whereas a 16 gb vita card is currently $32.34 (that's with an admittedly near-constant 46% discount, but they were originally 60 bucks). The 32 gb is even worse: $67.28 for the vita (with a 33% discount) and $16.43 for the standard sd card.
