It said in that manual that you can add 4 GB RAM?
It looks like the on-board ram is 1600 MHz DDR3-type. Based on the CPU, I believe is supports DDR3L RAM.
I found a mention of someone installing this 1600 MHz DDR3L in their Asus F550L, but it is not in English:

I would ideally contact Asus and check what RAM is compatible, but I would guess that a single 4GB SODIMM (204-pin) of 1.35V 1600 MHz DDR3L should work.
The Asus has already 4 GB of RAM. I would just buy another 4 GB module to get overall 8 GB of RAM. With a 8 GB module you would have 12 GB of RAM, which is a little bit over the top for such a laptop and your workload.
This one would work and if you really want 12 GB of RAM, you can choose the bigger module.
