Yes you can. Take it from somebody that is "pretty much retired" young and works only because I want to occasionally.

  1. Forget pride. DO NOT keep up with the Joneses.

  2. Save. SAVE SAVE.

  3. BE FRUGAL. This means clothes from thrift stores only on sale/coupon days.

  4. Scratch and dent food stores. Find them. Also learn to pressure cook dry beans for meals. EAT CHEAP, EAT HEALTHY. Learn to cook.

  5. Learn to make home made everything, including laundry detergent, cleaners, etc. It is a lot easier than people say.

  6. Buy a small Japanese car with great gas mileage. Nothing fancy. Toyota Yaris is a great example. Standard shift, so you don't have to worry about expensive auto transmissions. Take care of the car well. Oil especially. Get great MPG's. Nothing funky like hybrids. Just get the car that will last 20 years with excellent MPGs. Tried, true, tested.

  7. Learn to do all home repairs yourself. No service calls. Youtube is your biggest friend.

  8. Freebies / cheap stuff on craigslist.

  9. /r/buyitforlife Get stuff that lasts, used, on Craigslist.

  10. Did you notice how much of my post thus far is about NOT spending?

  11. Earn what you can, LIVE CHEAP. Mobile home? /r/vandwellers perhaps? Small PAID OFF HOME. NO RENT. Get a home with CHEAP taxes. Country homes offer this and are safe to live in.

  12. Use CITICARD 2% off everything credit card and pay it off every single month. Do not forget to pay it off. It will give you a life discount of 2%. Better yet when you have to buy at stores, buy 2nd hand gift cards online with your 2% off credit card. You can save a lot this way.

  13. Investments are important, but not nearly as important as managing your spending. It's just like those people that want a solar power home they think "how many panels do I need" at first, rather than figuring "how do I save power" first. You have to save save save.

  14. Again thrift store clothes and used appliances (from the 1990s), stay away from modern junk appliances. Energy star is not your friend. Those things break. Older stuff is more reliable.

  15. No debt ever. Pay stuff on time - no late fees. Everything adds up. Micromanage. Even a $25 bidet add on to a standard toilet will save you a fortune in TP costs.

  16. Spot heat/cool your home. Space heaters / window unit AC in the rooms people sleep in. Let the sofa get cold in the other room.

  17. Water saving shower heads. https://www.amazon.com/LDR-502-1100-Showerhead-Control/dp/B000I1EA70 <- That one. Accept no others. Mine is 1/2 gallon a minute. Take fast fast showers.

  18. Water on demand water heaters save tons of power. Dual flush toilets save water. If you are a guy and can, find a pp tree.

Most of all remember, it's not always what you make. Many people make 50k a year and are broke all the time. It's about pride, what you spend, how much your "image" to others matters to you. Debt is horrible and evil. Remember this - make holidays special by spending time with others... It's not always about money.

  19. Get free hobbies. Hiking for instance. Also Canoeing is great if you can find a used canoe. Things like this.

I'm not rich, nor ever was. Not Bill Gates or some guy who struck big bucks. Just found a way to live a fairly quality life for very little money. Can I retire, yes, sort of.... Can I work very part time at any job period - YES. No debt, live CHEAP.

Now you have the time to serve Jesus with the rest of your life. :)

A water saving showerhead costs about $15 and reduces the flow enough that most water heaters can provide unlimited hot water. Also they have a button that you can stop the water without screwing up your hot/cold knobs.

It's a great shower, nicely misted. I don't miss the wasted water.

EDIT: This is the show head I have and love As a note, you can push the button "half way" and reduce the water flow to under 1 gallon per minute.

5gal. and pressurized with air.

I question the 'hot' water claim, my guess is warm at best. I keep one of these in the boot and leave it in the sun when I park. Toss it on the roof or bungee to a tree for an 'at least not shocking cold' camp shower and have $285. to spend on a few nylon fittings and a hose with a showerhead.

Nothing new... i've been using the same shower head for 8 years, its got a shutoff built in so you can turn down or stop the spray as needed, it puts out an incredible amount of pressure (even if your water pressure sucks) and is 100% Metal, not cheap plastic.

buy this, and you'll never be disappointed...
