I would recommend this Lenovo ThinkPad E560 because ThinkPads are known for their great battery life, amazing build quality and very good keyboards and because it comes with Intel i7-6500U CPU which is more than enough for your usage, enough ram for smooth multi tasking (8GB), 500 GB HDD(I would change that with your SSD, but make sure it will fit, or buy a SSD and install it because it will give you faster booting and and overall performance, and it has 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS just like you wanted, and it is way under your budget.

What about this?

The TrackPoint is a Lenovo ThinkPad Thing. You could actually go in that direction if you wanted to. If you did that, you'd be pretty limited in terms of GPU's though.

Something like this Lenovo ThinkPad E560 would cover that, but it has a relatively weak GPU, and Fallout performance would surely suffer. It sounds like you have a real budget, so you have a lot more freedom to move around if the TrackPoint isn't a requirement.

As previously mentioned, this Dell XPS 15 9550 would do everything you're looking to do with style and ease. They even omit the 10-key, which gives you your "centered trackpad".

There are also refurb options that still keep a manufacturer warranty like this XPS 15 which can knock $500 off the price, allowing you to get the top of the line XPS 15, without the ~$2k price tag.
