Yeah definitely, but you'd still have a crappy 1366x768 TN display and a 4th gen processor.

You could get this Samsung 850 Evo, though. It would make things a lot snappier. It comes with cloning software too, so as long as you had an external enclosure you could follow the following steps.

  1. put SSD in enclosure.
  2. connect SSD to laptop via USB.
  3. clone HDD with included software
  4. take HDD out of laptop and replace it with SSD
  5. put HDD in enclosure

    And then you would have your old laptop with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD storage drive you could connect to any machine with USB. It may be worth doing anyways just to have a nice little backup machine. I would take some extra measures to clean up the old laptop too.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version) and Spybot S&D are both worth running to make sure stuff is clean. Then ensure that all the programs that came pre-installed on the laptop that you don't use get uninstalled. You should have a decent enough little machine.
