How are you buying the TV from Engadget?
LG's site correctly labels it as G-Sync compatible. And you can buy it from there

So the TV manufacturer lists it correctly, the software developer lists it correctly, and the largest retail store lists it correctly.
Seems like consumers aren't being mislead.
MSRP is $2499. Best I could find is camelcamelcamel price history for amazon. $1796 in July, $1596 in August, and just dropped to $1496 within the past couple days.
