As someone with a massive head... yeah it happens. I'm always careful with my headsets but I used to go through one every year and a half or so just because my head is so damn big. I never tried the gold headset because I've heard of this happening so it would just be a waste of money for me. Hell in middle school when I played football for 1 year (hated it) they had to get a bigger helmet for me because none of the ones they had fit my big ass. I've always been a big dude though, 6"5' and broad (also fat atm :D).

After years of getting new turtlebeaches here and there and trying a couple other brands finally found this one that worked out great and its going on 2 years and so far so good!

The keyboard is a bit loud, but I like it a lot. Plus, it's pretty cheap for a mechanical keyboard. especially if you go with just the blue backlight instead of RGB.

Mouse

I have no issues with the mouse whatsoever. If you want more programmable buttons, you could always look at others. (I've always been a fan of Corsair mice, but Logitech has great mice as well.) You can program the color of the logo with Corsair's software to have a bunch of different effects, or stay blue since that's your theme.


Headset 1

This is the headset I've got and I absolutely love it. The sound quality is pretty good plus it's got a great mic compared to other headsets. I did link the refurbished one, though. I have a refurbished one and I've not had any problems. It isn't blue like you asked, but with everything else being blue I don't think it'll look bad since it's a neutral color scheme.

Heasdset 2

My friend has this headset and he thinks it's pretty good. I've never actually used it but he's happy. The mic quality is definitely a little worse and the blue cloth will eventually start to fray and rip. It is still a very popular and liked headset though.

Other people will probably have better suggestions for higher end gear, but if you buy all this you'll only be at around $160-$170, so you'll even have some money left over. Whatever you end up getting, I hope you like it!

Had em for years pretty durable tried plenty of others and they all seemed to break pretty quick.

mic is great, and has surround sound too which is nice.

I have tried the wireless ones but I prefer the cloth ear pads vs the rubber.

I have 2 pairs of this headset and enjoy it. Sound is good in games that support 7.1 and logitech support is the best imo.

The simulated surround sound completely warps the audio, I wouldn't recommend enabling it.

The included USB dongle can improve your sound quality significantly for both headphones and microphone if your motherboard has bad onboard sound, or your case's front panel audio connectors are of poor
quality (like mine!)

The microphone is really good, has built-in noise cancellation that filtered out the noise of my huge box fan a few feet away blowing directly on me, and my several case fans, without messing up my voice.

The padding is very comfortable, especially if you have a big head, and the earpieces can be rotated 90°, so you can quickly pull them down and they hang comfortably around your neck.

Sound quality isn't audiophile-level, but it's pretty decent, if a bit bassy, like almost all gaming headsets.

All in all, these headphones are excellent, ESPECIALLY for $40.

You didn't indicate price, so I'll give you probably the best cheap option, which is the Logitech G430. I've had mine for awhile now and I find the sound quality to be good, the headset to be comfortable and it has been pretty rugged. My only real issue is that the cord is long as hell.

You can find it for cheaper than $39.99 on sale. It's well worth it for the price.

While I'm all for Logitech parts, the last decent headset I've purchased from that the didn't straight up die after 6-8 months later was this. I bought it for $35 at BestBuy about 6 years ago and it still friggen works. I had the G430, G35, and now an H2100 from corsair and they're all shit.

I have a few suggestions:

• OBS Multiplatform. Works good for recording game play, is free, and allows for multiple audio streams. Can be used instead of Fraps or as a backup program.
  
  
• Audacity: Free audio editing program that has lots of good features.
  
  
• HitFilm 3 Express: Also a free video editing program. I would have a copy along with blender as a backup.
  
  For USB 3.0 External HDD i have heard good things about the WD Elements products. I had WD internal drives and have had no issues. I record 1080p 60fps. You'll have a little less speed with an external, so maybe do 1080p, 720p 60 fps, or 720p.
  
  
• For a microphone I highly suggest getting a standalone mic and a headset instead of using the built in mic. You''ll get much, much better sound quality that way. Maybe a Blue Snowball, ATR-2100, ATR-2500, or Samson C01u.
  
  
• For headsets, I suggest the Logitech G430, Steelseries Siberia V3, ATH-M30x, or a nice pair of Sennheisers.

Logitech G430's are awesome. They fit well and the build quality is great. If you use the included USB sound card, you can enable Dolby digital 7.1 surround sound in the Logitech gaming software.

I use the Logitech G430s. They're $40 on Amazon at the time this comment was typed. I've had them for the past few months and they're great.

The 7.1 surround sound is awesome, and there's a pretty nice amount of bass. The ear cups are removable and washable, and the headband has a sort of memory foam as cushion. They feel good to wear for long periods of time and they don't make me sweat at all. It also comes with an above average mic. I can recommend them in a heartbeat.

Well, some gaming headphones are 5.1 or 7.1, either emulated or hardware surround. I have been through a 7.1 with emulation (Logitech G35) and a hardware 5.1, which was some kind of Psyko headset or something. It might've been my soundcard but it made a big difference in being able to tell whether or not a sound was behind me. The only downside is they're more expensive. Logitech ones, check this

I can only speak to what I've used, but I have the Logitech G430 headphones for my laptop and travel. They're very comfortable and lightweight, and have a very long cable. The Logitech G930s are the wireless version if you need that too. No complaints with them, but I do recommend using Overwatch's dolby atmos sound option instead of Logitech's 7.1 sound drivers.

I also use the AKG K240 headphones that are the lightest and most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. I sometimes forget that they're on sometimes! Great sound, but they are headphones only and you will need a separate microphone.

I got the Logitech g502 about a month ago and could not be happier with it. It has good mic and audio quality and is very comfortable. It's pretty reasonably priced and looks nice.

Same price as the Logitech g430s, which are #1 best sellers in headphones. Personally, I vouch for the Logitech's pad for use as everyday/gaming headphones, while leather pads are better for casual music player use where you won't sweat as much.

I connect the audio jack to from the monitor to the hub that displays the headset icon. No sound.

That multi-audio option on the PS3 is only for chat, it does not output game audio.

May want to consider lowering price for g430. You can buy new for that price.

I bought mine almost a year ago and wear it around 10 hours a day most days, and it only hurts towards the end of long computer sessions. The flip side of it being cheap is that it didn't last - around the 9 month mark the sound balance started acting up, and I am going to replace them, but they are cheap enough that if you like them, and comfort is a top priority, they're good value and could be worth replacing.

I've had these for over 2 years and they are still the best. Pretty comfortable with glasses, not sure if you have but comfortable nonetheless. I can hear footsteps clearly on siege and even pubg.

Since the Corsair Void's are ~$59.99 I figured I would link the ones I use. I broke a set of Steelseries headphones (don't remember the model but they were $150 at the time) and on a whim went out to Walmart just to get some cheap headphones to replace them until my new ones came in. I bought the G420 Logitech Headphones for $49.99 (currently $39.99 on Amazon and no joke, I feel like they are far superior. Is this the one you're talking about? It's $70-$80 Canadian so I assume you were saying $40 American in certain stores.

My fiance uses a Logitech G430, if you use the USB plug, it has some nice noise-cancelling software built-in. Sometimes a little too much, if you speak too softly it won't catch your voice that well. But it's a very nice and very comfortable headset. Unless you already have headphones you like, I'd recommend the Logitech G430.

If you just want a mic, your options are only limited by your budget. Go for something with gain control, that'll help you eliminate background noise. The Yeti by Blue is a very popular pick for simple ease of use. It's not the godsend people like to say, but it's only around $100 and still works great.

I currently have that Zalman mic you linked and getting the white noise with it. Do you think the onboard soundcard I have on my z97 board is the issue? (MSI SLI Krait z97 if it makes a difference)

Would getting a microphone with a little plastic buffer like this help the issue, or would spending the money on a cheap sound card be more beneficial?

Logitech G430. Primarily a gaming headset, I originally got them because they connect over USB through a dongle. I don't have a sound card since my motherboard is micro ATX, my video card is a 2 slot card, and my PCI-E 1x slot is being used by a USB 3.0 header card so I can use my front panel USB because my motherboard didn't have a USB 3.0 header...My motherboard caused problems in the beginning.

I had to use the onboard audio, which was apparently badly grounded, because there was always feedback that buzzed when using just the 3.5mm jack. On the plus side, the headset has Dolby Pro Logic II, which outputs 7.1 surround, says Amazon. It also has decent music response for my favorite bands.

There isn't any buzzing anymore, which is good...since that is the entire reason I got them. Decent reviews, decent price.

Other Information: I was in an electric store a few hours ago (german media markt) and I tryed a pair of headphones for a minute and had to go after that because my train was about to arrive. I had to pair them with my phone to test them and the linked device was the Bose AE2 SoundLink, they were really comfortable and sounded really nice to me. They were 329€ in the market tho and this is what I found on amazon, it doesnt say Ae2 tho, only around ear. I'm not sure if it is the one I tested. Maybe you guys know.

Logitech makes a decent product if you want something ready to go out of the box. Your other option would be to check out the headphone recommendation guide in the sidebar, pick out a set of 60ish dollar cans and then get the zalman clip on mic.

I'd highly recommend the Corsair Vengeance 1500, the HyperX Cloud, or the Logitech G430.

The Razer Kraken has a known history of not having all that great of audio quality and also has one of the worst built-in mics. I've tested all four of these headphones and the 3 I linked to are much better quality and cheaper!

The G430s are the same as the G35s sound-wise and they work with the PC and PS4, not sure about other consoles. The G35s just have other unnecessary features like sound modulation, buttons on the headset, a light that shows your mic is muted, just pointless stuff to drive the price up. My only issue with the G430s is the mic connection seems to have some issues because you have to use an adapter for USB. You could probably buy a better adapter yourself I would think. Oh and make sure you use the Logitech gaming software because it improves sound quality by a lot.

I own the Audiotechnica-M40x which sound great on primeday/Black Friday for under $100 and they are really great. The only problem is that they don't have a microphone. I bought this. After I bought my Logitech G430. So I can use it with the 3.5 mm jack on my xbox controller. It is a PC headset with two separate plugs for headphone and microphone. So if anyone is looking for an adapter for a PC headset this is a good choice. I haven't had any problems with this adapter. My only gripe is because my controller is older, the jack tends to shift causing the controller to not work or audio to cut out if moved too much. But that's a controller problem not anything to do with the adapter or the headset.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up: In my first official pair of headphones I guess I'd just like cleaner (crisp?) balanced headphones. I'd like to hear vocals pretty clear, but not at such a hard cut to the other parts, I don't know if this is possible or not though. I suppose Midrange (vocals?) and the higher range (is this recommended for the music I linked?), and I'm also going to be using them for gaming, but it's not my main concern (although its what I do the most).



I know nothing about what it will take to 'power' these headphones. The closest thing I have is for my microphone I had to buy a Phantom Power supply (similar? I'm new) I'm willing to have to buy a soundcard or whatever, but please include the cost with the budget. I'd probably have to buy either the headphone or what ever I need at separate times. I'm a poor high school student. I really appreciate the help! Thanks!

This has room to upgrade down the line. You can add more RAM, add some more fans/LEDs, and change the peripherals.

The 144Hz monitor will be great for gaming, and the 3GB 1060 should hit 1080p frames in most new games nicely. Its almost identical in performance to the 970 of the previous generation, at a friendly price tag.

As for a headset, I'd pick up the Logitech G430 if he wants to stick with the blue accents. The mouse and keyboard do this.

1. Correct, it's not traditional DLC. You do NOT have to buy the coin/pass to play on the new maps, or get new skins. The coin/pass will make you possibly receive those skins/cases randomly in drops, and give you missions to play that...really don't actually do anything but change the color of your coin and give you non-standard objectives to complete.
   
   You can get the maps you've missed in previous operations, as they're all workshop maps created by the community. Valve just 'highlights' some maps per operation.

This is the one I use. I don't know if it's the best but it's served me well.

There is nothing wrong with gaming headsets, and I am a bit of an audiophile.

I just recently bought the Logitech G430 for $59 and I'm honestly really happy with the sound, ease of use, and build. After installing the Logitech software and hearing the surround sound test, I was extremely happy.

I still have the setup I used in my peasant days. Sennheiser HD595 (I paid $250), and the Astro Mixamp, but they're sitting in a box. It's just not convenient, and there are a ton of extra wires and adapters to get everything up and running. I'll use these headphones at night when I'm watching TV because I can just plug the 1/4" headphones into my A/V receiver.

When I'm gaming, I like the simplicity of gaming headsets. They may not sound as good as audiophile headphones, but that doesn't mean they're crap or a poor value. There is a difference, but it's not a night and day difference. For me (and many others), the convenience trumps relatively small increases in sound quality.

Had a pair of Logitech g430's before recently upgrading, and it sounds like this could be a good headset for you aswell. For how cheap they are, they are pretty good, well built headphones, that tick everything you ask for. (decent sound quality for music and stuff too imo)

They aren't noise canceling, come with an optional usb connector, have massive ear cups, a big headband that adjusts a lot, and comes with a mic.

Hey, thanks, I do remember seeing these before, but it's been a while since I looked. I remember previously I found a lot of things that said 5.1, but weren't and a lot that them had other weird misgivings.

One reviewer even said, "Not sure how the '7.1 Surround' works, as they are not digital headphones."

I have these ones and they’re incredibly light and comfy I can play for 7 hours and them not get uncomfortable. Amazing for the price. But I’ve also heard good things about these but I’ve never had them so I can’t give my own opinion.

Personally, I own these, comfort wise it isn't amazing but provides enough cushion for my ears. Where the money goes with this is the microphone though.

Yeah at northern arena they forced should have forced the players to use noise cancelling "3m earmuffs" (like these) which don't put out any audio. The only way to get audio would be to use earbuds. I know stewie2k uses generic Apple earbuds, however some pro's decide to go with higher end earbuds. Either way you don't really want to be using earbuds at home.

But if you are just asking about what headset to get for CS, the most common headset among pro's are the Senhizer's, if you are looking for something cheaper though Astro's, Hyper X Cloud II's , and Logitech G430's are also very popular.

I never realized how weak the Canadian dollar is, I was really surprised at how much less it gets you. This is based on the "Crusher" build from the /r/pcmasterrace wiki, plus a keyboard and monitor. I don't have any direct experience with any of these parts besides the monitor, which I got for my girlfriend's computer build (and it's a great monitor at that price)

If you're looking to spend more, the first places to do it are

1. Better motherboard
2. Better keyboard
3. Better processor

Now for other recommendations. I stream on twitch as well, (mostly World of Tanks and other games), and I mostly use a Logitech G430 as my headphones/mic. If you're looking for a new mouse, Redragon makes really great mice at really good prices, I use a Redragon Perdition as my primary mouse for gaming, a Redragon Nemeanlion at work, and a Redragon Centrophorus for my secondary computer (used as a server and for doing distributed computing). For a webcam, I use a Logitech C920

Think these are a tad bit high on price. I'm sure you're open to offers but here are links to a quick google search. If I were buying, I would just buy new from one of these. Just FYI.

My friend uses the Logitech G430's and he sounds completely fine quality wise. I can't comment on the audio quality since I've never used the headset myself, though.

I use a Logitech F540 I got from a Dented Box deal some years ago (maybe 2 now). The battery died and I replaced it (quick fix) for 11 USD. I paid 89 for the headset and it has been amazing.

That said the cost for this set seems to be a bit high so I dug around looking for some good deals on gaming headsets, assuming you wanted to buy them all new.

The logitech g430 is the best one you can buy for usb imo. The build quality is outstanding, the sound is decent, and because of the sports type fabric on the cushions it breathes very well and you can wear it for hours.

Last few things are fairly irrelevant since I'm not picky at all.

So I've started playing video games again and I really need a new mic. I was planning on just buying a gaming headset since there's a good amount of them for around ~$30 but I know it's better to buy headphones + a separate mic. My main issue is, I'm not really that concerned with a great quality. Can I even realistically get a mic + headphones for ~$30-40 that will be significantly better than just a headset with a similar price? Obviously if my budget was higher I could understand that there's a huge difference because most headsets are all marketing, but at this level I'm unsure. For LANs, I recommend the Logitech G430s. For home, I recommend something like the Sennheisher HD 598s if you have a large budget and play alone in a room (due to them being open back) and pair it with a dedicated mic like a Blu Yeti. I, personally, would stray away from both of the headphones you have listed due to the fact that they are both marketed towards gamers, and generally, headsets of the sort will be of poorer quality (more on that here). If you're on a tight budget, but still want high quality sound, I'd recommend a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50Xs' with the Blu Snowball. I also saw you mention the kinds of headsets used by professional gamers. Pros usually are sponsored by certain brands, and in turn, use the brands gear (such as mice, keyboards, headphones, etc.). Additionally, pros generally use 2 separate pairs of headphones, one pair of in-ear monitors, and one pair for noise cancellation. The pair used for noise cancellation is generally one own of their sponsors. As you continue to search for a pair, please consider what I have mentioned, and feel free to ask me any questions.

I had it for a while and it was my favorite budget headset. The only reason I don't use it anymore is even though the mic is on flexible rubber the wires inside do break. Mine broke after 4 years of use. It can last longer if your really careful with it.

The Logitech G430 may be a good option for a budget. Other than that and the HyperX Cloud 2, Plantronics GameCom 788 is a solid choice too. I know streamers that use both of those headsets. The only issue is that the G430's mic may not be what you're looking for, but the headset and a $50 Blue Yeti Snowball come in at just about $110 before shipping.

My suggestion doesn't pertain to the build itself; rather the headphones you chose. I've used the G230 as well as the G430, and the G430 sounds just so much better with virtual surround sound. You can find it here for $64.99, and I personally think the $30 more is worth it.
