If someone who wasn't involved in theater bought ME gaff tape for xmas, I would remember it for a long time to come. Remember, it's the thought that counts.

If you're looking for something that's not an awesome consumable, you could try an aluminum scale ruler, tactical flashlight (must be black!), or a Gerber.

I really like my Maglight XL 50, 3xAAA and just one button, press once to turn on and press long to change between high and low output if needed. Worked fine for me until I discovered 18650s and wanted something better. It's a nice light but arguably not very bright, I wish they made the same in 18650. What is the problem with that by the way? It's just a different battery size, I'm pretty sure anyone can handle that shocking technology.

I have been lurking here and other EDC sites for a while now (years) as well as doing it unconsciously, so my carry is fairly refined despite my age.

This is kind of a long post so be ready to read, I start it with my base carry, which is what I do carry everyday without fail, the rest is what I rotate, carry for certain days and purposes, or carry often enough to be part of my EDC but isn't quite my base carry. You can skim over those if you like, as they aren't quite EDC, I am just posting them to give ideas for others and create an inventory for myself in the proccess.

Base carry

Picture 1

It's divided into black and brown depending on what I am wearing.

Phone goes in my left pocket, knife in the right with my wallet/moneyclip, back left holds my gum and chapstick, back right holds my headphones, keys clip to my belt.

Details for these items will be in the categories below.

Electronics:

Picture 2

  1. MacBook

  2. iPad 16 GB Retina with Smart Case

  3. iPhone 4 16 GB with Otter Box case and Monoprice clear bumper

  4. iPhone 4 16 GB with Monoprice clear bumper as well

  5. iPhone 3GS 16 GB

  6. Old Samsung phone for emergencies

The laptop, comes with me depending on the classes I am taking, it hasn't been coming with me recently because I have been able to do what I need to do with my iPad however.

I have two iPhone 4's because the antena on the first one broke and I had to get a new one, which I accquired from my cousin for setting up his stero and buying him GTA V. I use the second one for games now, or experiments, it comes along when I know I am going to be out of the house for a while. The third iPhone is used for Music and wa s acquired several years ago and I neglected to sell it because I like to keep a backup on hand because redundancy.

The Samsung is for emergency calls, it's battery life is immense and it's rather hard to break, I keep it in whatever bag I happen to be carrying at the time.

  7. Mono-price headones

  8. Apple ear buds

  9. Apple ear pods

  10. FiiO E50

  11. Sennheiser HD428

  12. Jabra bluetooth

  13. Kingston 64 GB Data Traveler

  14. Iomega eGo 350 GB (350 GB isn't made anymore, I believe.)

Monoprice headphones I just got because the Skullcandy headphones I had broke after several years of abuse. (Which is where the case came from.)

Apple earbuds and ear pods go in my bag as a backup, or when I want to talk and walk around or lay around or when I have my brown base.

The FiiO I use with my Sennheisers to give them a little more ompth, for only 20 bucks it makes quite a diffrence when I am listening to music for peroids.

Jabra bluetooth I don't use much anymore, but I like to keep it in my bag just incase my mic breaks, again, because redundancy. I will also have it on hand to use when gaming.

Kingston Data Taveler goes on my keys and contains my school stuff along with about 10ish bootable OSes, lots of common applications, and other tools. If anyone wants a full list, I will post it, but it's rather long and this is already rather large.

eGo is my general purpose drive, I usually keep a copy of my music library on it. (roughly 100 GB)

    Cord box:

  • 3.5 mm to 1/8"

  • Male/Male 3.5 mm

  • RCA to 3.5 mm female

  • RCA splitter

  • 3.5 mm splitter

  • Monoprice headphones.

  • Lightning charging block.

  • Lightning cord

  • iPhone cord

  • Mini USB cord

  • Mini USB to Micro USB converter

  • Ungrounded to grounded block

  • Apple ungrounded laptop adapter

This gets tossed in whatever bag I happen to be carrying; it also provides a handy spot to keep these cords when I am at the house when I cannot find an extra.

    Tools

    Picture 5

  1. Kershaw Leek

  2. Leatherman Crater C33T

  3. Generic SAK Classic (Real one)

4.Leatherman Charge ALX + bits and sheath

  4. Maglite XL50

  5. Smiths sharpener

  6. iPhone punch

I do not carry all of my knives on person, I generally only have one on person, but if I have a bag, I keep the others in there.

Flashlight generally comes with me in my left pocket when I am carrying my black set of things, or goes in my bag, however my phone solves the majority of my lighting problems so I have not invested in a better flashlight for daily carry.

iPhone punch comes with me because it helps when messing with phones, or with edges of small cases, or with opening some CD drives.

    Wallet/Money

    Picture 6

  7. Generic leather wallet

  8. Wallet from Guatemala

  9. Kenneth Cole Reaction money clip

Wallet from Guatemala is generally my trip wallet.

I've had good luck with the Maglite XL50 if you need something relatively small yet bright... (it's advertised at 104 lumens, and runs on 3 AAA).

[edit] - I am sorry, I didn't realize I had posted an affiliate link. I'm an idiot... I've changed this link to a normal one. Feel free to donwvote my dumb ass into oblivion...

I suppose I really could have included the flashlight that does already live in my backpack, the Maglight XL50 LED. It's not something I am carrying unless I am carrying the backpack though, whereas the Streamlight is smaller and I can make it a normal part of my EDC.

I got a Maglite XL50 from Amazon while it was $7, and it's a great 100 lumen thrower that works really well on a gun mount. The mount I got was a 1 inch mount.

u/definitelynotaspy · 1 pointr/EDC

As in these ones.

I just found the one you were talking about though. It's better, but the output is still pretty low from what I can tell.

That's what I have, specifically this one: maglite led xl50

YES. I have the XL-50 http://amzn.com/B004JJQ3UY. And these http://amzn.com/B00009V2R0

there is nothing more unprofessional than using the light on your cell phone.
