the Asus ROG GL502VT-It's high quality, has a powerful i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GTX 970M graphics, and a great 15.6" 1920x1080 IPS display. It's also really portable at 4.8 lbs and less than an inch thick as well as efficient with 7+ hours of battery life. also check out the XOTIC MSI GE62 Apache Pro laptop
you will need a very good built laptop, something that has a good gpu at least 960m and a nice cpu preferably i7, at least 8gb of ram and an ssd for quick start up. this asus rog is a good option as well as this msi and this dell inspiron

I would definitely go for the MSI... The Asus is also pretty decent but in terms of cooling , and customer service, I really like MSI.. To be specific on the exact model, I recommend you go for the MSI GE62 Apache Pro-001 that comes with the gtx 970 which is significantly better than the gtx 960.
The MSI GE62 Apache Pro-001 would surely be the laptop for your friend. Really good processor, suitable harddrive and a nice display.

Here's one. 970M, 16GB DDR4, for 1500. only issue really present is that it can get abnormally hot idling.
I currently have a MSI GE62 Apache Pro I bought used for $879 off of amazon. It's a wonderful laptop. The only issues I have with it are that it gets really hot when it's under a heavy load but there's a fan button you can toggle and that it's a bit heavy itself at 9.3lb but other than that it's perfect and handles everything I throw at it!
