Get this [MSI GL62 6QF-893 ] (http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL62-6QF-893-NOTEBOOK-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01D8VJ0K8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1462675897&sr=8-15&keywords=gaming+laptop+under+1000&linkCode=ll1&tag=3918-20&linkId=47c48438cc906d05170ce05eae1373c9). It will do a fantastic job for you- with a very powerful core i7 quad core 6th generation processor, the GTX 960 DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD, 12 GB RAM- you should be able to run those games on decent settings with nice frame rates. It also has a brilliant storage with a 1 TB HDD along with a 128 GB SSD that will give some much needed speed.

The ASUS K501UW-AB78 15.6-inch Full-HD would be perfect for light gaming and programming (Intel Core i7, GTX 960M, 8GB DDR4, 512GB SSD),Also the dell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK is another laptop to look at, 15.6 Inch FHD display Laptop (6th Generation Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD + 8 GB SSD) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M is idea and the MSI GL62 6QF-893 gaming laptop which will do a fantastic job for you running those games and even more demanding ones. This laptop has a powerful quad core i7 sky lake processor, 12 GB RAM which is awesome, a decent GTX 960 dedicated graphics card and of course, a great storage with a 1 TB HDD and a 128 GB SSD which is awesome and will give you some much needed speed.

u/LonerIM2 · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Well a great deal is now available and I think it would be great for your usage, I would recommend this MSI GL62 because it has everything you need at a great price, a powerful quad core i7, 12 GB of ram for smooth multi tasking, 1 TB HDD for storage, small SSD storage (128 GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 960M GPU for your gaming that should handle the games you mentioned on high with good frame rate, Backlit keyboard, USB C like you wanted, comes with 4 USBs, and way less than your budget.

u/The---Technician · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I would go for the Sager. If you really are looking to spend the least for the best performance though, this MSI GL62 6QF-893 would be a great pick though.. It is only for $799 and will perform in alignment or better than those two laptops you have listed. It has the i7 quad core 6th generation processor, 12 GB RAM, a very nice storage with a 1 TB HDD plus a fast 128 GB SSD..It also has a nice gtx 960 dedicated graphics card.

u/The--Technician · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

My number one recommendation based on your criteria and the tasks you will be doing , is this MSI GL62 6QF-893 15.6" GAMING NOTEBOOK. It has a very powerful i7 quad core skylake processor in addition to 12 GB RAM and a dedicated GTX 960 graphics card for gaming. It also has a very good storage in a 1 TB HDD along with a 128 GB SSD that will give you some much needed speed. While you will not get 10 hours from it's battery , you surely won't be disappointing- just ensure that while operating on battery, you switch off your keyboard lights and if you are not gaming, you switch to your integrated graphics that the processor has instead of using dedicated graphics card that does use a fair share of power.

u/trainedtech88 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

this MSI GL62 6QF-893 is a decent recommendation for your requirements. it has a lot of power great gpu, nice ram good built and a decent hybrid storage.

u/Orangematz · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

What about this or this?

u/The400BlowsBlows · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

The MSI GL62 is on sale right now and has pretty much everything you're looking for (battery life is not so good). Does push right up against the top of your budget though.

u/Galmsortie17 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

This is the best under 1000:

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL62-6QF-893-NOTEBOOK-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01D8VJ0K8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1476139839&sr=8-6&keywords=msi+gp62

The specs you want are an i7 6700hq and 960m.

This MSI will be more reliable than the Asus models.

Though a 970m refurbished deal like this is much better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234150&cm_re=970m-_-34-234-150-_-Product

(That's a sale and the 970m is 70% faster than the 960m)

u/Strill · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

For comparison, the MSI GL62's amazon reviews are 64% at 4 or 5 stars. (out of 50 reviews)

u/Bigboss537 · 2 pointsr/blackfriday

Well I found something better during black friday.

This laptop was for $799 plus a $70 rebate.

You have a huge number of options depending on what you are really looking for. Specs to look for would probably be an i7 processor, 8GB or more RAM, and an excellent, dedicated graphics card if you work with 3D imaging, or a normal, integrated graphics card if you just work with normal images. You can also decide between a SSD, a HDD, or both. I would recommend an SSD unless you need 1TB of storage space and don't want to use an external hard drive.

You also should look for something with a good IPS screen, and likely 15 inch screen rather than just 13 since you don't seem to mind poor portability and weight.

I can give a few recommendations in a bit

Ok recommendations.

If you really want to budget, you could get away completely fine with a refurbished HP Pavilion for just $620. This would be good if you want to save money, don't do 3D graphics rendering, and are fine with an HDD instead of an SSD.

If you want really good value, and are fine with a 'gamer looking' laptop, an MSI GL62 would be a good pick for $900. It would have basically everything you need. Especially good if you do 3D graphics with the 960M.

I can offer more options if you want. Just let me know what you are looking for based on what I've offered, and what you want different.

Also, if you want another Zenbook and are fine with a 13 inch screen, the Zenbook 303UB is a great choice for $1180. Would be extremely portable.

This is the best deal I could find on Amazon with the only difference being its a 15.6" laptop with a solid state drive. Pretty much no matter where you look, a 970M is $1500 and a 980M is $2000. So this is pretty much as good as you'll get for $1000!

u/Aahhhanthony · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I saw this laptop suggested to others looking for gaming laptops, and am considering buying it. How do you think it compares to the laptop i linked below? Which do you think I'd be better off getting?

Investing 100-200 $ more and buying a better one. The laptop is the largest garbage. You might be able to play overwatch, but if you want to play something new, you can forget it. So rather spend more and then use the laptop then the next 3-4 years. If you buy that one, you can count on that you need a new in 2 years.

There are TONS.

This is 41% off.

This looks decent though I've never heard of it.

This looks slim and nice. Good specs too.

This is more a cheaper option.

Hope this helps!

I am a few hours in with my character, and I get 45-60 fps with shadows on 2048 resolution, everything else on ultra. I want to lessen the dips in fps. Yeah, I've used LOOT and Beth.ini

Anything currently under $1000 today is likely something with a 960M or a 970M if you're very lucky. The best option would be to wait for the widespread launch of GTX 1050 and RX 470 laptops, or wait until manufacturers start releasing budget GTX 1060 notebooks. But at the current, you can't go wrong with an MSI GL62

u/GrassWaterDirtHorse · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

GDDR5 ram for graphics cards isn't necessarily mandatory, but every single high end modern GPU uses it instead of DDR3 anyways. DDR3 is still used for your basic memory, but DDR4 is a lot faster, though it'll come at a slight premium.

The 930MX is basically and updated version of the 930 with faster GDDR5 ram. That being said, it's still not good and most reviews I see say it's slightly worse than the 940M and will struggle to play most games even at 720p 30fps, and Witcher 3 is going to chug due to low RAM and low clock speeds, and I'm pretty sure it won't be able to do CAD with any sort of speed. The 950M is decent, and will be able to play games at 1080p 30fps, especially since it comes with 2GB GDDR5, but with $1200 you'll be able to get a 960M or 970M laptop for far better performance, though if you're willing to wait or shell out a few hundred extra, you could get a laptop with a 1000 series chip for far better performance.

Try the MSI GL62 6QF-893, 2.4 kg and high end processor, the i7 6700hq, 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive and a 128GB SSD, and a 960M.

Hey man. Don't get that laptop that /u/Heals-and-Feels reccomended. It's a ripoff and there's much better equipped at a greater value both for gaming and school needs, such as this one:

MSI GL62 6QF-893 15.6" GAMING LAPTOP NOTEBOOK GTX 960M i7-6700HQ 12GB 128GB + 1TB WINDOWS 10 USB TYPE-C https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D8VJ0K8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I0cBxbJT2P7BR

It's a much more worthwhile investment as opposed to that Dell you were reccomended. Let me know your maximum price range and size preferences and I'll be happy to assist you further, my man!
