I use shotshell cases for sample vials. You can find them at Cabela's on sale for like $3/box sometimes. 12-20 gauge will fit a 5ml sample vial perfectly.
I also have this fancy metal curved vial holder thing that I use. I don't remember where I got it from but it was around $18 or so.
These shotgun shell holders work great. The clear one goes on sale for $4 sometimes, or if you have a Cabela's near you, grab it in store for $4.
