I can read Aramaic. It's a huge challenge, since there are a wide variety of dialects, none of which are very widespread today. There are some resources out there for ancient Aramaic varieties, but not a whole lot for Neo-Aramaic.

I don't have any good texts or anything, but it might help to have a look at this consonant correspondence between Semitic languages. Knowing it, a lot of Arabic/Aramaic cognates become obvious.

Digging around, I was able to find this book and this one. Those, perhaps in concert with a text on ancient Aramaic of some sort to get basic grammatical paradigms, might be helpful. Knowing Arabic going into it is really helpful.
