This Is pretty much what we used at AEL Dallas for the side stations. Mainstage was one of these since we had to connect a caster Xbox.
I think you just need an 8 or 10 port switch. Each Xbox connects directly to the switch via ethernet and so does the router.

I wasn't aware older ones wouldn't do that. I am using this switch and never had an issue with it, FWIW.
Do the computers all have Ethernet jacks? If so, take a 16-port switch with you like this and use Ethernet cables to connect the laptops to the switch. Get long Ethernet cables so you don't all have to huddle close together. This 10-pack of 20-foot cables would be perfect. Then use another long Ethernet cable to connect the switch to the hotel's network. Voila. Ad hoc network access for <$100.
If you need WiFi, do like others suggested and ask the hotel for help. You're talking about renting a conference room anyway, you'll get access to premium staff help compared to just renting a hotel room.
Note for the professionals in the audience: I just used the first hit on Google that returned a cheap 16-port option with Amazon Prime 1-day shipping. The Fast Ethernet speed limit doesn't matter here because what hotel would ever give a guest even 100mbps connectivity.
Awesome. I was just afraid of purchasing an ethernet switch that didn't work. I tried it with my "smart panel" (splitter) and had zero LAN access and had very spotty/failure-prone internet access.
My plan was to purchase this. Thoughts?
