No matter which charger you use, it doesn't matter whether the cable says it's USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1. They all charge at the same speed. Just make sure it has the correct plug shape on each end, that it has good reviews at a reputable merchant, and that it's long enough for how you want to use it.

It applies across the board really. For the past couple of years, we used to fear noncompliant USB-C to USB-A cables. USB-C to USB-C cables were usually fine. But a noncompliant device overdrawing by as much as 300%? I'll be picking up another OEM Nintendo charger. $25 is a small price to pay to protect a device that's now out of warranty.

The US Switch charger is multivoltage and multifrequency - it lists support for 240V at 50Hz. It will work fine with an adapter.

I would advise against it, not because it could damage the switch; but because the output advertised on the box is too low to power the switch and play continuously.

I would suggest getting a second AC adapter instead. Or get one of these instead of a car charge, to add usb port and get a Nyko power kit

To keep it brief; Nintendo Switch draws about 8.9W at most while gaming in portable mode. Also, the Switch can only draw up to 2A due to its design.

A USB-A adapter (along with a USB-A to USB-C cable) supplies up to 5V 1.5A (7.5W) which is insufficient to charge while playing intensive games. The cable you linked is a USB-A to C, so presumably you were using a USB-A adapter which only supplies 7.5W. The Switch can draw more than this while in portable mode, which explains why your battery was still being depleted.

A USB-C adapter (along with USB-C to USB-C cable) supplies up to 5V 2A (10W) which is enough to slowly charge while gaming. (1) (2)

A USB-C adapter that supports USB-PD can supply up to 18W (voltage and current can vary) which can quickly charge the Switch while gaming. (1) (2)

1. This is only a cable, you also need to AC block that goes into the electrical outlet.
   
   
2. AFAIK, there is no AC block on the market right now that meets the Switch specifications. So your Switch will likely charge slower than it should, or it might even not charge fast enough to prevent the battery from depleting if you're using it at the same time. Unofficial chargers also don't play nice in docked mode, the Switch is very picky about the current it requires when it comes to outputting to HDMI.
   
   
3. Considering the 2 first points and the fact that a lot of Switch consoles are getting bricked lately, I would just buy that and be done with it.

I think most of your questions depend on how you plan to use your Switch. For me, 99.9% of the time I use it in handheld mode, so accessories important for my usage are different than someone who primarily uses it in docked mode.

• HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Whichever mode you primarily use your Switch in, I highly recommend getting a Screen Protector and microSD card. The screen on the Switch covered by transparent soft(er) plastic that is easy to scratch. I had imagined this was for plugging directly into the console and the description seems to indicate the same. Some comments seem to indicate this can also be plugged into the dock. I have. $25 credit from a shark week promo that’s only valid on a select number of things, so I might grab a $40 dock if I can get the power adapter for $2 after my credit. I just want to make sure this is compatible with the dock first though and not just for plugging directly into the switch. I’ve heard too many horror stories of bricking consoles with 3rd party docks, but this power adapter and the dock should both be first party.

If you're not confident enough to fix it yourself, I'd say go for a new one (they have them on Amazon for ~$27). I'd also recommend sticking to official Nintendo ones, since a lot of 3rd party accessories (primarily docks) have been bricking Switches (plus 1st party AC Adapters aren't hard to find, again, ~$27 on Amazon).

That would depend on your location, but if you're in the US, Amazon has them for $28.45. You can buy them at pretty much any retailer that would sell Switch accessories.

Just get an amazon basics high speed HDMI cable. There is no reason to get a specific brand or anything of HDMI. The only thing that ultimately matters is if it is high speed or not - most nowadays are.
