Piggybacking on eating more, constantly grazing between meals will help. You may also want to looking into a carbo supplement like this one if you end up finding it hard to gain weight. (Tbh, it tastes pretty bad, so you'd probably want to mix with Gatorade powder or something to mask it.)

  • 16oz whole milk
  • 2 scoops whey protein
  • 1/2 cup carbo gain

rice, bread, pasta

also if you just need some quick carbs and literally nothing else I really love this stuff. It is super cheap, mixes extremely well, and has virtually no flavor. I put it in a cup with water and some crystal light and it tastes just like juice but w/o all the excess sugar.

is pretty good. Weight gainer supplements are usually just protein with a bunch of carbohydrates(sugar) added in, so you may be able to save some money buying something like this and adding it to your current protein shake

Here's what I'm thinking of putting together:

BCAAs (Edit: Just realized this is not vegan friendly)

L-Arginine a-Ketoglutarate

L-Citrulline DL-Malate

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine

Beta Alanine

Creatine Monohydrate

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Maltodextrin

Waxy Maize

I'm currently using a mix very similar to the above listed ingredients and it works very well!

I would like to just take a pre-mixed powder, but it seems like they all have caffeine, which I'm not a fan of for working out in the evening.

I'm also somewhat interested in Agmatine Sulfate and Phenylethylamine. Anyone have any opinions on those two chemicals?

I use to use ON Pro Complex Gainer. You should look at Now Carbo Gain It has all the carbs, mixes well, with no flavor. Just add whey to it, and you have your own gainer.

As far as I know it is not used in mass gainers to spike insulin so your body can build muscle better -- it's there simply to be a carb/calorie source. See for example this which is almost 100% maltodextrin and 250 calories per 67g serving.

The carbs from that and many other performance drinks are primarily from maltodextrin, which one can buy separately and mix with other flavorings, juice, fruit, etc. Good luck!

I've used NOW Sports Carbo Gain and noticed in the Amazon reviews people saying they used it post-chemo to get their weight up.
