> I finally got around to watching On Stranger Tides
I'd just like to recommend to everyone to read the original book this movie was ever so loosely based on. Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides is the original inspiration both for the Monkey Island games and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, mixing pirates and voodo, and is an amazingly fun read.

Recently, I read the book On Stranger Tides, by Tim Powers. This book was optioned by Disney and about 1/3 of the plot was badly shoehorned into the PotC sequel of the same name. I really wish they would have done a better job of adapting it, though, as it really is a marvelous book.
