Well, it is expensive. The wheel I got on sale for Christmas ($199):

The seat for my birthday (full price listed):

Without the wheel in general, I don't know if if still be playing GT6, it is that much better with everything. I had 220 hours around there before the wheel, now I'm at 310 hours with everything. Those last 100 hours would have not been there if I had a controller.

3 Samsung 32inch 1080p TVs. I got a lot of hate on this setup because they're not legit monitors. But I put my buddies monitor next to one of these to try them both and didn't see a difference. (They have game mode) I do play FPS's on them and see no input lag.

Anyway, I love this setup. Originally, I had the wheel on the desk but there was some movement on the entire thing. Once I got the cockpit everything felt 100 times better since the wheel was more secure. I highly recommend getting a stand for the wheel. There are a bunch of cockpits like this, more expensive or cheaper.

Someone built a really nice one that looks like it didn't require welding (edit: actually looks like there is a bit of welding invovled).. It's using the X-sim software.

I suppose you could use the following chair with that project.

There is also the Gecko which is 2dof for your upper body. It's the most affordable non dyi system I've seen.

This was mentioned after I looked up "saddle chair." Guess what I'm getting?

You can actually buy real race car seats for reasonably cheap (like $400 to $1000 zone - of course they have more expensive also). Just Google "Race Car Seats". For example

I personally have a PlaySeat, which I think is just one of the cheaper race car seats stuck onto a platform you can mount your wheel to. I bought it as a temporary thing while I figured out a more complete simulator, and have to say I like it a lot. They have several models depending if you want Formula 1 or Rally car or whatever driving position, etc.

I am currently using an OpenWheeler seat and the G27 setup and people have responded to it really well and it is a great setup in my opinion.

Yeah, for sure. I have my eye on an Open Wheeler cockpit right now:

Under $400...still seems crazy expensive to me, but far, far cheaper than the other solutions I've seen! Plus I think it'd be possible to mod the arms fairly easily to accommodate a yoke/pedal, stick/throttle, and keyboard/mouse setup so you can play racing games, flying games, space games, and regular games all in one chair. Throw a couple of bass shakers on the chair itself & voila, the ultimate multi-gaming cockpit setup!

I bought one of these and it is the best thing I've bought. I know it is pricey but you'll never need anything else. You can find cheaper versions as well.
