Based on the recommendations of this subreddit, I recently bought an Ooster Classic 76 and could not be more pleased with it. Not only is it sturdy, but it goes through hair like nothing else. Granted, I got it for shaving my head, but it can use a bunch of different blades PLUS any guards you need to use. For example, I got a normal (2?) blade, but you can replace it with this should you desire. I would assume it shaves close. Anyway, Ooster makes an amazing shaver, one I assume I will have for many years to come.
EDIT: If one were to compare shavers to cars, this would be a classic chevy truck. It's heavy, it's bulky, it smells of grease (seriously), but it drives through anything, the Wahl would be likened to a Pinto. Yes they work, but one hiccup and they stop working.
Get an Oster Classic 76 with a 00000 blade. As close to shaven as you'll get and no bumps.
I don't know how close you want to cut but I use the [Oster 76 classic] (http://www.amazon.com/OSTER-Classic-Universal-Clipper-CL-76076010/dp/B00070E8LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421765027&sr=8-1&keywords=oster+76) with the [00000 blade (0.2mm)] (http://www.amazon.com/Oster-Professional-76918-006-Replacement-Clipper/dp/B0012KT6JS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421765054&sr=8-1&keywords=oster+00000). It's the closest you'll get unless you buy the Wahl Blade 000000 which is 0.1mm.
