1: KNIFE OPTIONS
Take a look at some of Ruike's offerings. They're available on Amazon. The P801 is right in line with your budget at $30 and it is a spectacular knife for the price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06X9S3947/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519959816&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=keysmart&dpPl=1&dpID=417boF2rKtL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

As far as steels go, 8cr13mov is fine. Clearly if you've been carrying a $4 Walmart knife you aren't one of the few people who really needs a great steel in a knife and 8cr13mov is heaps better than anything on a $4 Walmart knife. If you do want a steel that's a little nicer but still in your price range, 14c28n is great. It's what Ruike uses in their knives.

2: KEYCHAIN RECOMMENDATIONS
You could kill 2 birds with one stone if you pick up a key organizer like this Keysmart Lite: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06X9S3947/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519959816&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=keysmart&dpPl=1&dpID=417boF2rKtL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

It will hold all of your keys together without jingling around and if you get the red version it will be nice and easy to see.

3: PEN RECOMMENDATIONS
The Parker jotter is a classic and you might be able to put Pilot G2 refills in it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0017D5WXY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519960055&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=parker+jotter&dpPl=1&dpID=21BhP8zNBiL&ref=plSrch

4: ORGANIZATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Pocket clips are the key my friend. I carry 9 items in my 4 jeans pockets. I keep 1-2 items clipped to the outside edge of each pocket (and 1 item down in the pocket. Nothing ever rubs together and each item can be removed with one hand without having to move anything out of the way first.

to clarify, I was asking about felt tip pens similar to this paper mate specifically, not pens in general.

but i usually write with [whatever] or, if i have one with me, a Parker Jotter in stainless steel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017D5WXY) which is not comfortable to write with, but is my favorite pen because it was used by Boris in Goldeneye :)

For all the pilots get the refill cartridges at Staples cheaper than online.

Good (cheap) ink brands are noodlers, waterman's, diamine, and Parker.

Also r/fountainpens is a good resource.

The Parker Jotter is a classic choice. It looks nice, has a well known name, and hits your price range.

One that instantly springs to mind is the Parker Jotter in stainless steel. Here's a larger photo for comparison. I don't think it's a perfect match, but it's pretty close.

u/Chthulhu · 4 pointsr/pens

You won't find SS the barrel by itself, but a new all-SS Jotter isn't all that expensive, and you can find older ones on eBay in a wide range of prices.

Less than $12 on Amazon:

Obligatory Parker Jotter recommendation. I have both the stainless steel and plastic variants. Although vintage brass thread Parker Jotters are more durable, a store bought new one is also good. Tons of refills and can be had for about 8 usd.

u/Igotzhops · 2 pointsr/EngineeringStudents

I'm a fan of the Parker Jotter. Pretty inexpensive, simple design, and a classic pen.

CRKT Minimalist $22.53

Money Clip $13.99

Parker Jotter $8.49

Timex Expedition $34.39

Micro Streamlight $17.15

Total $96.55 just enough left over for a Sierra Nevada tall boy.

Looks like a Parker Jotter to me..

> I carried a parker for decades... I kept the parkers long enough to be worth buying refill cartridges

This guy Parkers. Only pen I've ever put a refill cartridge in myself, by the way.

As for your question /u/TheRealChrisIrvine the basic, low end stainless steel Parker Jotter ballpoint pen is currently $9.97 on Amazon Prime and uses the same refill cartridges as Parkers costing 10x as much

u/gavmcg92 · 1 pointr/Journaling

I picked it up on Amazon.

Quite honestly I've never found the data I've accumulated to be concrete enough to warrant further analysis. My gym's V5 is not yours, for instance. Even a V5 at my crag isn't the same as yours.

I really like the Leuchtturnm1917. It's pricey, but it:

  • Has a table of contents. I use this to track the page numbers for a given week.
  • Has a string to mark your current position
  • Has a (sadly) optional pen loop to keep my favourite pen close by
  • Nice feeling paper. This is just one of those things that bugs the hell out of me. A notebook with crappy paper just irritates me at a spiritual level.

Outside of this I keep a Google spreadsheet tracking general numbers. E.g. records for certain exercises, how many problems of certain grades I do (rough indicator of progress for certain goals).
