Buy this mic.

It's the cheapest one on Amazon. I have it and my friends all say that it sounds just fine.

u/_Mister_Pickle_ · 3 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

and 30% of you don't own one. I understand money can be tough for some folks, but for $9 you can buy a microphone off amazon here. And for five more dollars you could get a headset here. Amazon will ship it to you for free; yes it will take it awhile to get to your house, but better late than never! So for the investment of the game itself you can get the one piece of hardware that is needed to accelerate your play, and make you better. Please use 1 hour of your paycheck to buy this. Ya they may not be great, but they will work.

How about a nice set of studio headphones, then something like this

u/cocobandicoot · 1 pointr/PS4

That's not a bad idea, if you're wanting to use some badass headphones. The separate mic isn't the classiest solution, but that'll do.

I imagine you could get a tabletop mic if you didn't want to have to clip on that little wearable mic. Something like this would do, or maybe this.

this and this

the best thing about these headphones is that if the cables start to fail I can just toss them over in our IEE chapter's general direction and buy a new cable for like $1.

Monoprice headphones, $25 - surprisingly good. Pair this with a cheapo gooseneck microphone for $10, you're set.

I currently have my PC, PS4, PS3, and Nintendo Switch all hooked up to one monitor. PC with Display port, the others with an HDMI switch. My PC audio goes to my headphones (Which are connected directly to the PC with a 3.5mm cable) and my consoles play the audio through my ASUS VG248QE monitor's speakers. I wanted to run all of the audio through my headphones so that I could hear my PC and whichever console I am currently playing at the same time. I achieved this by connecting a 3.5mm cable to the green headphones jack in my monitor and then connecting the other end to the blue line-in jack on my PC's motherboard. However their was a noticable static effect in the background which also grew louder whenever I moved my mouse or used the scroll wheel. Also my terribly basic microphone no longer worked when the line in was connected.

I really know very little about audio and was hoping some one would recommend me whatever I need (Amp, DAC, AV reciever, sound card, etc) in order to have a clear sound without audio interference coming from my consoles and PC to my headphones. Also a better desktop mic would likely be needed since my friends say they can hear a constant static from my end whenever I talk.

Budget wise I guess my limit would be about $1000 but I really have no clue how cheap or how expensive the stuff I would need is since I have no clue what I actually need in the first place.

Any help is appreciated since I feel pretty lost about all this stuff.

I've had these for a while. You can pick these up and a little desk mic. I haven't used that one, but the worst problem I've had from these headphones are that the ear cup material is starting to wear a bit. I have a large head and wear glasses and these weren't too bad for me to wear for a full workday, the ride home, and a gamesession; but ymmv.

u/Trazac · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Already discussed at a few places in the thread, but I always suggest the headphone+mic combo. You'll have better headphones and a better mic for around the same cost.

These Superlux HD688B Headphones are probably the best set you can get for the money. If that's a bit too expensive, you can get the HD 681 headphones instead.

Pair that up with any cheap mic and it will sound better than any mic on pretty much any headset. This Clip-On Zalman Mic is often suggested because it is easily attached to your headphone wire and sounds good. If you can spend a bit more, then this Sony Lav Mic will sound a bit better but not be as easy to use. Even one of these desk microphones will sound really great at the expensive of needing to be on your desk and pick up desk noise.

Looks like it's actually gone down in price!

It's not the best mic, but it gets the job done more reliably than a laptop mic does.

u/shadyinternets · 1 pointr/gaming

small disclaimer here, i am a bit of an audio snob so mostly have more expensive gear because i like overpaying for things apparently lol

So, at that price point im really not that sure what is "best" as i dont have a ton of personal experience there other than some audio technica m40x, which are on sale for $80 with no mic on amazon right now. at $80 they are great, but with no mic you would need to spend a bit more.

http://smile.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M40x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR54/ref=sr_1_cc_1

if you could up your budget just a bit you could add a v moda boom mic that would work with the m40x. it is $30.

http://smile.amazon.com/V-MODA-BoomPro-Microphone-Gaming-Communication/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=sr_1_4

any non-usb mic would work too, but the v moda attaches to the headset to keep things nice and tidy. so something like either of these 2 should do the trick and both are under $10. you just have to figure out how to get the mic in place since it isnt designed to attach to a headset straight out the box. the one is a lapel mic so just attach it to your shirt, and the second could possibly be broken down and you could try attaching it to the headset on your own somehow.

Or you could try these Hyperx Cloud II's out. i have never tried these, but they are in your price range and they are sort of a chinese knockoff version of the more expensive mmx300s i have. they have a lot of really good reviews though so might be worth a try. even though they arent from an actual headphone manufacturer they apparently are very good for the price point, so could be just right for you.

http://smile.amazon.com/HyperX-Gaming-Headset-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B00SAYCXWG/ref=sr_1_1

you could also pop over to /r/headphones to look for some advice. there are people there with a lot more experience with products across a wider price range so could be somebody who already owns a headphone/mic combo that fits that budget.
