Afraid I don't at the moment. I've only built 1 computer since I am always short on money. My nephew bought himself this one to power his new computer, and like I said he has a 6870. When I get home I am gonna set up windows and stuff for him, and connect all his cables. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EYV690/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i04

I really like that it's modular, so you don't haave a bunch of cables, and it has everything I wanted, and the 600W version is only a few more dollars. If you're that nervous, just pay a few bucks more. They're running a $25 Mail-in-rebate right now for Amazon, and it worked great for me, I got my gift card in 3 weeks.

If you want you can get a OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular PSU for better cable management. Other than that, great budget rig!

Have any opinions on OCZ and/or Antec PSUs? Corsair CX series?

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

Corsair Builder Series CX600 600W

Both of those are significantly cheaper, any thoughts on them?

I would like to build a home server. Can my motherboard support server CPUs?

I've already purchased the motherboard and the following parts (about 6 months ago). Are these other parts at least compatible with each other and the motherboard?

Hey again. Your build is definitely solid; as long as you didn't get any notifications from pcpartpicker about compatibility issues, you should be good. I saw your edit in your original post, and I wanted to address a few questions you asked:

  • Modular power supplies. I would definitely recommend one, if you can shell out a few extra dollars for one. I believe I incorrectly posted the wrong power supply I used in the build I gave you earlier. The one I actually used was an OCZ 600W modular power supply, and it cost me something like 40 dollars. Here is the one I purchased. As you can see, there's a rebate form that you can mail in which would bring the cost down to $43.74, so if you're willing to shell out an extra four dollars, you would get more voltage and a modular supply. The advantage of modular supplies are twofold; they improve the airflow in your system since you have less extraneous wires running amuk, and they're more convenient. Basically, you can pick and choose which power cables you need, and just plug those in.

  • Another thing to point out: if you're in a state that gets charged tax from Newegg or NCIX, Amazon has most, if not all of the components you have listed, maybe with the exception of the motherboard. Like for me, I live in California, so Amazon is the only site I try to order from since they don't charge tax (yet).

  • Cable management: this goes back to why modular supplies could be more helpful. Long story short, less cables = better airflow. Since you're planning on gaming, I would definitely recommend looking into how to manage your cables. It's a pain in the ass to do, but it pays dividends in the long run. Plus it just looks nicer.

What settings were you hoping to run GW2 on? I ask simply because I'm unsure how high a 1GB video card will run, so I might have to look in that for you.

I have a 700W OCZ:
http://www.amazon.com/FirePower-ModXStream-Semi-Modular-Performance-formerly/dp/B001EYV690

Works totally fine but the lubricant on the fan has worn down a bit so it sometimes (rarely) rattles slightly. It appears to be a simple fix of just getting some grease in the right spot on the fan, however I was upgrading anyway and just put it to the side for spare parts. If interested I could do 30 shipped for it and send some timestamps.

Last question and I won't take up any more of your time.

This one has more watts and is cheaper after rebate so I assume as a noob that it's better and on sale or it's some cheap brand. Yes, no?

Won't bother you with another short message after this so THANKS in advance.

So this computer was put together around 5-6 years ago, when OCZ power supplies were a thing.

Now, they are PC Power & Cooling or at least I believe.

This is my current power supply, but I want to upgrade to Ryzen when that comes out, and maybe even overclock.
So my new build when Ryzen comes out will be High-end mid tier Ryzen (R5 or so), GTX 970, 16GB DDR4, 2HDD's and 1 SSD with a H60.

Is it fine for me to reuse this power supply or pick up a new psu?

u/efx0a · 1 pointr/buildapc

My current machine is using a 600W OCZ ModXStream. It has been going strong for ~5 years (got it in 2009) but lately I've had instances where the computer was either shutdown or put to sleep and I'll have trouble turning it back on the next day. I'll have to resort to unplugging the power adapter and "draining" the power by pressing the power button several times; once I plug it back in, the computer turns on and runs perfectly fine for hours.

I'm just about finished getting everything for my latest build that will replace my current machine; at this point I'm just waiting on a good deal for a Seasonic PSU and some G.Skill RAM. I think I'll probably find sales on RAM before a Seasonic deal pops up, so here's my question:

Would I be able to (safely) run this new rig using my 5 year old 600W OCZ ModXStream while I wait for a new PSU?

Would this be a better PSU? I've heard that OCZ is good.
