+1 to the Pelikan idea - they're a little tougher to find but they do make an M200 with a transparent black, rather than green ink window (e.g. from Amazon at link below).
Only thing is you'll probably want to find one with an F or EF nib for college note-taking (especially since Pelikan's tend to run broader than they claim to be).
The M200's section is also a little funky - definetely recommend you go to a brick and mortar store to try one if there's one near you (and maybe pick up some ink while there). Or buy from Amazon so return is easy if needed.
