Here are some things that work for me:
Hopefully that helps a little bit. I have found that pushing through a little bit of razor burn was worth it as my skin got more used to the shaving. But, from day to day, things tend to vary.

This electric razor has worked awesome to avoid irritation/itching.

I use it in the shower then rub one some non scented lotion after. Smooth and itch free.
Hope it works for you boss!
For the past several years, I've been using the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100. Use oil before shaving, and lotion after shaving - ball shaving is basically the same as face shaving.
It would be extremely difficult to hurt yourself with this thing. I have had only one minor cut in the years that I've had it, and that was from shaving too quickly.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that, your boss is to speak most kindly likely a subhuman scumbag fascist chud, and I had the same experiences before I started using the Phillips Norelco Body Groomer:

This shaver gets as close as possible to being a regular shave while not irritating the face by leaving the hair just significantly enough higher that I can very easily shave my face every day now, and save regular shaving only for the weekends plus not spend as much time and money on shaving cream and shit:)
That's the model I use but there's another model that's almost $20 cheaper that looks pretty good too, good luck!
I’ve had this for 3 years now, but I don’t shave my head smooth. I use the clipper end with no guard once a week on my head then with the guard to shave my beard. The other end work good for manscaping. I paid $50 for mine on sale. So you may want to wait till the price comes down. and then I gradually figured out how to use the razor.

I let some of the hair above my genitals grow back and just keep the penis and testicles trimmed these days.
