I use the Phillips Norelco 7200.

It's not the flashiest or the most expensive, but it does the job perfectly for me.

Trimmers I've owned:

Wahl All-in-One 9854-600

Pros: powerful clippers with a very long battery life. Suitable for all types of body hair grooming.

Cons: Only one guard that I consider suitable for stubble length and I'd prefer more options on that front. Not waterproof.

Trym II

Pros: Charging stand and sleek look allows you to keep it in plain sight on your bathroom counter without the counter appearing cluttered.

Cons: Fewer guard options than the Wahl, and seemed less powerful, although for the purposes of trimming stubble it seemed minimally sufficient.

Trimmers I'd consider if I were in the market right now:

Something more premium: Philips Norelco Beard trimmer Series 7200

Philips is generally at the top of the list for reviews of beard trimmers, and the dedicated beard trimmer gives you more options for stubble length. Lastly, after a couple years of maintaining stubble-length growth, I can now see why the vacuum feature would be desirable. Trimming down to stubble is messy business.

Something affordable, yet highly rated and with more options for stubble length: Wahl Beard Trimmer

I have, on occasion, wished I had more versatility in choosing a stubble length (a little longer or just a tad shorter - depending). A dedicated beard trimmer that doesn't break the bank would be a good starting point on that front.

I use a philips oneblade for close shaving (for my neck, edges) but it does have combs you can slap on it, but that can be a hassle.

So I use a philips trimmer with a knob that lets me change trim lengths on the fly (but you'd have to take a couple seconds to diassemble it to get a semi-close clean shave) because I use different lengths for the the moustache part the cheek part and the under the jaw part.

I got this trimmer. It's decent but my beard is over an inch in length so I ordered a Wahl Elite Pro here. Hopefully it will work out well.

I see that there is a Philips Norelco All-in-one device. Frankly, I'd rather have a great shaver and a great clipper instead of one good combo.

I own this Philips Norelco Beard trimmer Series 7200, Vacuum trimmer with 20 built-in length settings, BT7215/49 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0199RDFA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_G0RPAb535KVYQ

It has been a beast for a cordless. The lithium ion battery makes a big difference in power. I've cut off a few thick beards with this dude. Seems like it checks off the boxes you mentioned.

I don't know what Shaver you're using but I highly recommend one like this

I had my old beard trimmer for 5 years and had to deal with the hairs flying all over the place. I bought this new trimmer a few months ago that had a vacuum attached and it works great.

Been using this Philips for a year and love it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0199RDFA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_duSCzbW46MYQJ

Goes from 0 to 10mm in half increments, has a vacuum that's pretty great about catching loose hair, and lasts a while on a charge.

The blade was recessed so that it is impossible to cut oneself. It is not merely a vibrating blade but a recessed blade that uses the "teeth" to pull the hair back into the blade. It looked a lot like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0199RDFA6?psc=1
