Yeah I love it too and have managed to win the handful of times I played. Here's the book I was referencing. I haven't read it so I can't comment on the quality but even assuming it's great (people seem to really like it) I don't want it because part of what I love about Hive is that it's a game like chess but without all the baggage. There's no chance you'll run into someone who was in Hive Club throughout their schooling and who can wipe the floor with anyone besides another person with tons of experience. I don't plan on playing Hive competitively and so prefer to at least keep the development of strategy for myself and others more organic. I'm not criticizing you or anyone else who read or wants to read the book but it's just something to keep in mind.
