Not sure why BB is charging $500 for both the 103 and the 102, when the 102 is $300 elsewhere.

Denon are often the top recommendation. Refurbished $320 Denon AVR1400 7.2 (or 5.1.2) with Audessy. Or other refurbished receivers at A4L.

Internet direct speakers can have a better bang for the buck. Most have 30 day in home trial periods. Some have subsidized or free shipping baked into the price. Some even have free returns. HTD.com, SVS, Chane, Ascend, SVS....

An online alternative to BB is Crutchfield.com for excellent customer service and very knowledgeable free live USA tech support.

Sounds good.

If you dont have an amp/reciever, our go-to recommendation for the money is a pair of JBL 308P's

They have very good response and will fill a decently sized room (bedroom).

As for a sub, this 12" Polk is a decent value and should fill out the bass response in your room.

We could certainly go bigger if you like heavy bass response in movies or sub 30Hz effects, but that starts to get expensive.

If I had to get headphones as well, I think what I would recommend is not getting the sub for now, and using that budget to get headphones.

Do you have a preferred sound signature for headphones? If you know how to read a Frequency Response chart, which one of these do you think you would prefer?

Total audio newbie, I currently use a Logitech Z263 but it's not loud enough and I want a more powerful sub, looking to spend $400-500. I can't find any desktop packages that seem to be a large improvement over what I have already. Just moved out onto my own land, so I can be as loud as I want and I'd like to completely fill my living room with music or movies.

Would I get a good improvement using the LSR305's mentioned in the sticky notes paired with a powered sub like this one?

That sub is only rated 150W and my Z623's are rated 200W, would I be downgrading? Or would I need a seperate amp for the LSR305's?
