You might want to try and get an interview with Brian Enos of Tempe, AZ. He's widely respected by many of the pistol competitors here on how to cultivate a state of mind that improves performance.
He was a national champion in '83 and '84 and became legendary in the sport not for simply shooting well, but for teaching people how to focus and prioritize their perceptions.
He wrote a book. The reviews might give you some idea of its subject and impact:

Consider also The Art of the Dynamic Handgun. It's probably the best overall pistol training DVD currently available. There are better options for competitive pistol shooting. A good book is Practical Shooting: Beyond Fundamentals. It's a very zen book in that it makes no sense the first time you read it but eventually becomes invaluable.
Ive been reading this (and highly recommend it). He talked in great depth about fundamentals vs your own individual form. He says that to become a great shooter you have to break down your own form and practices to find what makes you shoot better or worse, and that eventually the fundamental techniques (grip, stance, posture) begin to not matter.
Brian Enos talks about this in his book Practical Shooting: Beyond Fundamentals
