If you're just getting into this, I don't think you'd need a microscope, soldering iron, etc.

If I were you, I'd get my hands on some iPhones and practice replacing the LCD assembly, the battery, and the charging port.

You might see about getting your hands on an iPhone 4 first. You probably won't need to repair one very often, but they're very cheap and if you can replace the screen on an iPhone 4, you should find it very straight forward to do newer models.

I do a little bit of repairing on the side by appointment. I do on site repairs, but let me tell you it SUCKS driving all over the place to do repairs. I'm not sure if I've made it to the location on time more than a few times because of so many factors. It's also very convenient that each repair seems to be 9000 miles from the other one. If you've got a presentable home and neighborhood, you can probably get people to drop off devices with you if you've got a dedicated room to doing repairs.

Tools I'd recommend starting out:
(JUST BECAUSE ITS CHEAP AND HAS ALL YOU NEED TO GET STARTED):

Once you start on iPads, get this: http://www.injuredgadgets.com/iPad_Heating_Pad_p/ipadheatingpad.htm

If you're using copy screens, I'd recommend getting them from Injured Gadgets. Nobody has better copies than them. They're also in the side bar.

Until you get more and more inquiries, I'd hold off on buying stock. Stock won't do you any good unless you have people wanting it. Once you've got enough interest, I'd buy 2 of each iPhone screen from 5C to 6+, and 6S and 6S+ only if it seems necessary.
