Budget : $200 - $300, but I'm flexible. I might go up to $400 if I think it'll be worth it. The less money I have to spend, the better, but I understand that quality comes at a price.

Requirements for Isolation : I'll mostly be using them at home. I'd take suggestions either way.

Preferred Type of Headphone : Full sized or on-ear.

Preferred tonal balance : Warm sounding, like you'd hear in a small, cozy room with soft carpeting and couches, as opposed to a spacious wood room.

Past headphones : Superlux HD668B: Pros: Nice highs for piano and synthesizers. Cons: Instantly uncomfortable. Clamp my ears. Ears get hot quickly. Mids and lows are underwhelming. Highs overpower all else. Not warm sounding in the slightest.

Past headphones : Apple Earpods: Pros: Balanced sound. Durable. Presentable in public. iPhone controls. Cons: Uncomfortable for extended use. Not very high quality overall. Sound is a bit muffled.

Preferred Music : A variety of genres, but primarily rock. Three of my most played songs that I feel represent my tastes in music best are This River is Wild, The Boxer, and The Reeling.

Some headphones I'm considering are the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, Sony MDR1R, PSB M4U 1, Bowers & Wilkins P5, and Beats Studio 2.0 as a last resort.

Check out the PSB M4U 1. One of the best in its price range and also the most balanced headphones I have ever tried on. It doesn't skimp on the bass nor does it overpower it. The mids and highs are perfect so vocals sound amazing!

Cheers. If we're sharing tips, PSB M4U. Over ear headphones but when im working on production for my bands recordings (where audio quality is important) or l get an urge to soak up a classic album and relax, these things really deliver high end quality at an intermediate price. Also no noise leak no matter how loud. Theres no manipulation of the signal so if you prefer headphones that tweak the EQ (looking at you beats and your stupid bass) then they might not be for you. But if you want to hear it exactly how the artist intended, these are the headphones you need.

• Budget - $300. If necessary, I can go over another $50 or so but I'd like to stay around $300.

• Preferred tonal balance - I like an overall balanced sound. I really enjoy smooth midranges that give a nice warm sound but I wouldn't want that to come at the price of sound quality and clarity. I don't want overpowering bass but I definitely like it to be there.
  
  
• Past headphones - At the moment, B&W P5. They were my first pair of headphones and I loved them for a few years (I've had them for 3+ years now) until I started listening to other quality cans. Now, the soundstage of my B&Ws sounds pretty thin. The balance they give off seems pretty nice to me, though. But that could just be because they were my first pair.
  
  I'm also borrowing my dad's Sony MDR7506s for the next week or so to see how I like them. Immediately, I could tell that they produce a much nicer soundstage than my B&Ws. I'm still trying to get used to the difference in tone but I really like the Sonys. If they were the best within my price range, I would have no problem sticking with them.
  
  
• Preferred Music - I listen to a lot of genres. A lot of rock/folk/bluegrass type of stuff (Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, The Allman Brothers, Phish), a lot of electronic stuff (Ratatat, The Chemical Brothers, Baths), a lot of jazz, and a good amount in between.
  
  
• Headphones I've been looking at - I've been really leaning towards the Sennheiser Momentums (I could've sworn I just saw these for less than $300 on Amazon a few days ago? Am I going crazy?). I was also looking into Shure SRH840s, Beyerdynamic 770s, and just came across reviews for the PSB M4U 1s. I'm open to any opinions and suggestions! Thanks!

Spend 24$ more and go for the PSB M4U1

Something like a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 990s plus ModMic would save you a fair bit of money (the headphones are heavily discounted at the moment) as well as having much better sound quality. A pair of PSB M4U 1s would be another (closer to $300) option.

The problem with buying PC gaming headphones, is that even if they come from a decent manufacturer (like Sennheiser) because PC gamers don't typically care about sound quality past a certain point (which you should if you're dropping as much as $300 on a pair of headphones) the prices can simply be vastly increased from what an equivalent "audiophile/music listener geared" pair of headphones would cost you. They also tend to be a bit lacking in the comfort/build quality areas (because PC hardware/peripherals in general have shorter life-spans than say high end audio equipment).
