I would like to introduce you to the wonders of helicopter tape. It prevents dings in surfaces you coat it with.

Just a note, the paint will scuff around the areas where the black cable routing rubs against the white paint. I'd get a roll of helicopter tape and put some strips right under those spots.
I also recommend ditching the white tires and the white bar tape. That was one of the first things I did because after about two rides, they're both completely grey.

I added most of the red retroreflective tape and replaced some of the bolts with stainless eyebolts from the hardware store.

The straps go to the two attachment rings at the front of the trunk, up and over the trunk lid where I've protected the paint with some helicopter tape.

The instructions for the receiver hitch said not to attach a cantilevered load like this without reinforcing with straps.

I don't have this thing on very often, but we're going camping tonight and it will be a lot easier to pack this way. I'll probably just have the cooler on it.
I know some people that use helicopter tape on the area of their bikes that are subject to chainslap or cable rub. I don’t use it on my bikes, but the people I know that do like it.
I've used racers tape for years. It works perfectly for areas where cables contact the frame. It also doesn't peel at the edges.

tape everywhere that will rub on the bike, even top tubes . keeps the frame looking like new. prevents cable rub, and its clear and very hard to see.
your frame will be fine, stick a patch of tape over the area so it doesnt get worse.

Helicoptor tape on amazon $25 looks solid, but kind of pricey when I only need about 6 square inches tops and I cant think of anything else I'd use it for.
