Congratulations on you landing this new position.

There are two books I'd suggest you read to continue your growth in IT. You will also look great by having these on your desk for you manager to see! But make sure you read and understand them.

Raving Fans is short, easy to read, and has stuck with me as much as any business book out there. Lots of it seems like common sense, but sounds like what you are asking for. Valuable read.

[Raving Fans] (http://www.amazon.com/Raving-Fans-Revolutionary-Approach-Customer/dp/0688123163) by Ken Blanchard is pretty good. The One Minute Manager by the same author is also worth a read. Nothing groundbreaking, but interesting nonetheless.
