Not everyone has a relationship with a "god", though. I don't. The only reason I think about a god (let's not forget that there are also "gods" or even just spirits in some religions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kami Also some religions don't even really have a god) is the world I live in is dominated largely by Abrahamic religions and I wonder why people bother spending so much time on such things. Religion affects me life not because I secretly unconsciously believe in a god or something. It affects my life because people who do believe in a god (christians, jews and muslims in this case) influence laws and culture.
