I've had the exact problem with paint in the screw holes, and problems getting the screws in.
I prefer rectangular holes for cage nuts and screws. More flexible that way, too.
For a bit more, this might be better. Since its bigger. It has fans on top. Plus wheels for moving it around.

Ideally for the Ender 3 - this might even be better. Since its deeper. You could cover up the back with the plexi-glass. Drill some holes on top for ventilation.
