Amazon is also selling it for $26.50 new or 23.32 used through Amazon Warehouse: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPK3XWW/

I bought the last generation of this drive and have been completely impressed with it. It does get a little hot though if you're writing to it a lot. I needed a bigger drive though and noticed that it was on sale, so enjoy!

One piece Samsung with metal design that’s waterproof, shock proof, x-ray proof, temp proof. Cheap and 3.1 usb. $40 for 256gb. Also 5 year warranty

It sounds like you're confused about a couple things and it doesn't sound like you're ready to build a PC. If you buy a PC, whether you buy it off the shelf at a computer store or have one shipped to you, it will come with Windows preinstalled and the Windows license will be part of the overall cost.

Windows 10 1903 is only 3.7GB. At 4.8GB, 1809 was too big for DVD-R/DVD+R discs. 1803 and 1903 are both small enough to burn to DVD. No, you do not need to buy a USB drive. However, Windows will install faster from a USB 3.x flash drive than a DVD-ROM. I recommend either the 32GB Samsung BAR for $10 or the 128GB model for $25. You don't even need 32GB, but the 128GB model is 50% faster. That might be important to you. I have the 32GB model, of the old style (they changed the appearance slightly) and Windows installation is like 20 minutes, and that's to a slow laptop hard drive.

But you're asking about paying, and I suspect you're not talking about USB hardware, but your Windows license. You can install the Windows ISO via direct download or an ISO burned to DVD or extracted to USB, and everything will go fine, but without a license, you won't be able to change the wallpaper (background will be black) and it will constantly notify/nag you about it. So that puts you in license violation, but your computer will still run and Microsoft won't bill you. (A nonzero number of people just deal with that.) To be compliant with Microsoft licensing, you can click the notification and it will help you buy a Windows license. You can do it right through the Windows Store, which would be the easiest way. (You can also use the Windows Store to buy your way from Home to Pro.) You can buy a physical copy at Best Buy or a similar store and input the code where instructed.

Happy to help with any other questions. I'll be here for the next hour or so.

as a professional computer repair company owner, and a DJ, you should have had a backup. no USB drive is infallible, especially against corruption.

now, if your drive isn't being recognized by windows, I'd recommend downloading a Linux Live ISO and trying to read it there. If it works, copy the data to a different flash drive.

If the drive was physically bent, you may have damaged the thin silicon and broken the traces that lead to the controller or flash chip, in which case you'd need to bring it to a data recovery specialist.

In the future, make Playlists in RekordBox and drag the Playlist to the drive. If you lose the drive, you can recreate it on a new drive by moving the Playlists again.

Also, use Samsung bar metal drives, such as this one: Samsung BAR Plus 128GB - 300MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive Champagne Silver (MUF-128BE3/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPK3XWW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4CHSCbFKS63B0

You can't bend it with typical forces such as leaning on it or accidentally running into it while walking by the side of your laptop.

Hopefully these tips cure you of your ailments.

I've had a Samsung BAR 128 on my keychain for three years. Works great. Write speeds can be a little erratic but usually 30-60 mb/s. Much faster than any other inexpensive flash drives I've owned.

They've since updated it with the Bar Plus with USB 3.1. It looks like the write speeds are down to less than 40 now from people who've tested it. Reads are still crazy fast.

At 22 bucks for 128 and all metal waterproof shockproof design it's a decent option. There's probably stuff with better write speeds, but you're going to have to get that M.2 enclosure setup for anything really really good.

I got this one, Samsung Bar Plus
Samsung BAR Plus 128GB -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPK3XWW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

One reason is its operating temperature of 60C.

Thanks.

I also saw these as being recommended, but I'm not seeing how they'd be different from my original thought...

Yes.

I bought a hub and it won't work on that, but it has been working fine when directly plugged into the Tesla USB port. No dropouts or anything.

I have this:

That makes sense.

I was actually looking at this https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BAR-Plus-128GB-MUF-128BE3/dp/B07BPK3XWW/

In the heat of Summer, is that ever an issue at all? I live in Texas!

u/testedonsheep · 1 pointr/Model3

this is the one I use due to heat during summer.

I would recommend any USB drive that has the normal thumb drive size, has a USB 3.0 interface, is formatted to FAT32, and comes from a reputable company like Sandisk and Samsung.

Here's one with a metal casing for good heatsinking:

here is another one, also great. not as fast as the sandisk, but even cheaper. its a samsung, 128 gb, for only 28 dollars. can hit around 200mg a second. also, its durable, all metal. i used one, and it is very fast for a flash drive.

If you're looking for a good price on a large flash drive, this 128 GB metal (gunmetal or silver) Samsung drive is only $28 right now (Amazon prices fluctuate quickly):

I am highly leaning towards the Samsung Bar Plus 128GB USB 3.1 or Kingston Data Traveler 128GB USB 3.0 and I am worried about the speed. The Samsung 3.1 USB has a read speed of only 300 MB/s for USB 3.1, although I can't take advantage of the 3.1 right now, shouldn't it be much faster read speed or am I thinking of the write speed?

u/insomniac_koala · 1 pointr/techsupport

Could you recommend me a small flash drive that's pretty fast and tiny or are those the best I can get? I might just get the 128gb version of my old drive haha. Would this be even faster than the other two? And is this about as good? I don't need to have a 3.1 port in my PC to be able to sustain those speeds, do I?
