Not really. The extra size is a moderate disadvantage, and these Samsung sticks drop down in price on occasion.
Same issue with Samsung BAR Plus 128GB (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BPG9YX9).
It was working good before recent update (that one with adding back camera I guess).
Replugging helps sometimes but anyway it fails every day.
This is my USB drive:
I've been using it since I got the car in May, with no issues until a couple weeks ago. Now, the car randomly decides the drive is "too slow" and disables the dashcam.
I've wiped the drive's folders multiple times.
Unplugging it and plugging it in again usually corrects the issue for a day or two (but sometimes it takes multiple tries).
When I plugged the drive into my PC, it said there's a problem with the drive and asked if I want to fix it. I said yes, it did something, I tried it again in the car, it worked for a couple days and gave the error again.
I tried using the other port, but still get the error.
Anyone familiar with this issue or this USB drive? I have another friend with a Tesla that uses the same USB and has no issues at all.
I feel like this started happening a couple days after taking an update, but that could be coincidence.
Also, there seems to be static gathering in my sound system and then occasionally discharging with a "pop". After a discharge, the sound quality is much clearer (much wider range - lower lows, higher highs). Not sure if it could be related.
Any thoughts?
Works perfectly for me!
After seeing that email I bought a USB 3.0 splitter and Samsung flash drive with known fast read/write speeds. Worked great with the Nomad during my first day of testing today. Hopefully together they will help me avoid the “gray x” of death on the dashcam.

The USB flash drives you're thinking of probably aren't these new types:

I am not sure what Tesla's specs are (USB2 or USB3), but the one I got (which our Model3 hasn't complained) is a USB3. Heres the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPG9YX9?
Mine is only 128GB, but I got it anyways because I was getting tired of comparing USBs on Amazon and somewhere (either in reviews or some other forum) someone mentioned this one worked for their Tesla.
hmm, maybe it was you, but I saw a post on this recently (a day or 2 ago) someone using the same drive received the same error.
I'm using this Samsung USB drive plugged directly into the usb port, and didn't receive the error
