I've loved this Samsung monitor since I bought it about 6 months ago. Wasn't sure about the curved screen but I've really come to love it for a single-monitor setup. $463 on Amazon right now and I'm always suckered in by the free Prime shipping and easy returns if something goes wrong.

I´m personally a big fan of VA panels. yeah they´re not as accurate a lot of the time. but unless you´re doing colour-sensitive work. you´re not gonna care once you see that sweet sweet contrast ratio VA has to offer.

Here´s my picks
Lower end. but very good
Lower end. but still awesome
Factory calibrated hdr goodness

u/perfes · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

Most of the monitors here are free sync and I would say have good implementations however I will include a Gsync category.

I would not recommend 4k for the 2080. It would be able to run games around 60 fps at 4k however refresh rate will make things more enjoyable. Also, 4k high refresh rate monitors are currently very expensive.

Good value companies to look at:

Viotek

Pixio (Did not list since availability issues but worth looking at)

Nixeus

More established companies to look at:

Acer

Asus

Samsung

LG

Gigabyte (They have one monitor on the market)

TL;DR of VA vs IPS

IPS has slightly better viewing angles than VA.

IPS has slightly better colors VA.

IPS has better response time than VA.

However, VA does not have defects like IPS glow and much better contrast, so much better blacks and such.

TL;DR of TN vs IPS

IPS has much better viewing angles than TN. TN will color shift if looked at straight on.

IPS has much better colors than TN.

TN has the best response rate.

TN is basically worse in every way than VA and IPS except for response time.

That is very odd indeed. It is still on their own website though.
I'm also waiting for it, though the few reviews i found so far of the chg70 (32 inch though) make me wonder about the freesync range..

edit: Just checked, it is still on amazon, if you look at the 711 monitor and check related items. It does say "currently unavailable". Link to Amazon

u/WillyRJ · 3 pointsr/Monitors

you can check many 1star reviews (link: Samsung website reviews, Amazon review)

I'd choose the new IPS like Aorus FI27Q, AD27QD, Pixio PX7, LG 27GL850. They are all the latest display but Samsung C27HG70 was released in July 2017.

u/Eyehopeuchoke · 3 pointsr/xboxone

I have been a tv gamer for since I was like 6 years old, and I’m 36 now. About 2 or so months ago i switched to a Samsung monitor. This one but the 32 inch https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-C27HG70-27-Inch-Monitor-C27HG70QQN/dp/B06XSQ5QN8 it took a while to get used to playing on a smaller screen, but I do enjoy the smaller screen for FPS games. I enjoy all other games i play on my 4K Samsung tv that’s like 49ish inches? I can’t remember exact size and I’m in bed so I don’t wanna get up and go check the model number. I think if I wasn’t into PvP FPS games I would just use my tv.

With what all you’ve said I think i would go with new tv and worry about monitor after scarlett comes out.

u/evo1167 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

No, it does not have HDR. I would imagine it would say "HDR" somewhere in the title, plus HDR compatible stuff is way more expensive than that.

On another note, that monitor uses a TN panel which can only reproduce 6-bit color depth as compared to 10-bit with HDR.

here is a monitor I was looking at purchasing here soon that has HDR: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSQ5QN8

But I'm not sure if it'll be HDR compatible with the PS4, unless the PS4 has HDMI 2.0a ports and you own an HDMI 2.0a cable. Might be worth googling around about.

(if I have any facts messed up about TN panels being 6-bit and HDR being 10-bit, please let me know so I can learn more)

u/doctorp_ · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Hey man, I was wondering the same thing. I mean if they are adding that on to the system there must be some games coming out in the future 1080p-1440p /120fps options.
I was looking at this monitor. Also looking for similar suggestions.

Its really overpriced it cost the same as the Samsung C27HG70 which uses same panel but also has HDR600, Quantum dot, 10 bit colors, 90% DCI-p3 and other benefits.

u/tearsofdeath33 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

How's it compare to this?

Samsung C27HG70 27" HDR QLED 144Hz 1ms Curved Gaming Monitor with FreeSync (C27HG70QQN) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSQ5QN8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ifn4DbE2ZNS4T

I play competitive TF2, so I use the 144Hz for that but nothing else. I don't even watch Youtube videos on it.

Now, there are better 1080p 144Hz monitors. But at this point if you want a no compromises experience get this monitor. 1440p 144Hz, capable of meeting the DisplayHDR 600 standards, except if you fiddle with the response time setting, which is not needed.

u/LimitedWard · 2 pointsr/gaming

The Samsung C27HG70 is the 27" version of the monitor Hoi_C recommended. As far as I know, the specs are otherwise identical: 144hz 1440p VA panel with excellent color accuracy and HDR (not strictly necessary for gaming, but still a nice touch). It's also within your budget, selling around $450 on Amazon. Note: this monitor comes with Freesync support (not G-Sync), so it pairs much better with a high-end AMD GPU than an NVIDIA. That said, if you don't care about variable refresh rate, it's still a great option regardless.

If you're tempted by ultrawide monitors, Massdrop has a really good one for $550 (a little over budget, but you basically can't get better specs than this without spending at LEAST $200 more). For a similar price, the Acer Predator XB271HU will offer similar specs to the Samsung monitor, but with G-Sync.

As for what I'm using, I have the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q. Pretty much the top of the line for G-Sync at 1440p, but I can't recommend it to you because it's too over budget at $680.

TL;DR: the Samsung C27HG70, Massdrop Vast, and the Acer XB271HU are all excellent monitors, and you can't go wrong with any of them. Best all around value is the Samsung.

u/DCGColts · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Best you'll find is 1440p hdr at a higher hz than 60 atm. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-C32HG70-32-Inch-Monitor-C32HG70QQN/dp/B06XSQ5QN8?th=1

Microsoft added support to 1440p res on the xbox one in march https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-one-1440p

Also since its console use you don't really need higher than 60hz as your not going to get the benefit as nothing runs above 60fps. So you effectively be running 60hz anyway. Most important thing would be response time 1ms-2ms range.

u/Dant2142 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Ok, so here are the only real choices that exist right now, as far as I can tell.

LG 27UK650-W (https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV)--This supports HDR, and Freesync over HDMI, but is an IPS-type panel, so by its nature its response time will be higher than 1ms. There's another caveat too: Because its not Freesync 2, you have to choose between HDR and Freesync at any given time, you can't have both at once.

BenQ EL2870U (https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EL2870U-3840x2160-Brightness-Intelligence/dp/B078HWN5CX) This is about the only TN-Type HDR monitor I know of, so you get 1ms response time, but I can't find affirmative evidence that this will support Freesync over HDMI, and even if it did, it has the above monitor's problem of seeming being only Freesync 1, so you'd still have to choose between Freesync and HDR.

Samsung C27HG70 (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LC27HG70QQNXZA-C27HG70-27-Inch-Monitor/dp/B06XSQ5QN8) There's also a 32" version of this---This looks like the only Freesync 2 monitor on the market right now, so you get HDR and Freesync at the same time. The catch is that its not 4K, only 2560x1440. The panel response isn't quite 1ms, being a VA-Type panel, but its pretty close, and you'll have to do a firmware update on the monitor before the Freesync will be actually useful (out of the box Freesync range is 72-144hz, so useless for an Xbox. The update drops the minimum to 48hz). It also has not so great reviews, mentioning things about flickering in the lower Freesync range, so, consider this one with caution.

And that's it. Sadly, there's a consistent reality that monitors and their production are at least a year behind available technology for whatever reason.

u/Cankles_of_Fury · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

As a non handy console peasant, when I heard the quote for installation, I thought to myself I could build a pc for that. After 50ish hours of youtube tutorials, and another 50+ hours installing, the floor is done and I can finally build my first pc. I haven't PC gamed since 2004 and even then it was on a pre-built

It's like the stars aligned because I was able to use prime day to save a ton. The hardest part was not being able to build my pc even though I had all the parts in

Was so excited I forgot my keyboard and monitor in pic

Ya, HDR is slim picking at the moment. About 2 months ago I found Samsung LC27HG70QQNXZA. The only thing it is missing is GSync (it has FreeSync instead) but I dont really notice not having Gsync on my main monitor any more. HDR games on windows are kinda few between but it works great when connected to my PS4Pro.

If you can go $9 (plus tax) over your $500 budget, I would go for this one-

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSQ5QN8/ref=psdc_1292115011_rv_t1_B01BYU0GVC

Not only is it 4k *EDIT-I got this wrong, it's actually 1440p, but now that the One X supports 1440p I would still say this is a good monitor), but it also has a wide color gamut for HDR gaming (which is a better feature than 4k IMO). It also supports freesync which the One now supports.

That'd be the one you suggested? (not sure if the link went correct but I'd go with the 27')

Will I have screen tearing issues without a G-Sync type monitor, or will the colors be okay? I have a 1080 Ti to pair it with, my biggest gripe is screen tearing pretty much cause v-sync gave my current setup input lag.

u/x01580 · 1 pointr/PUBGXboxOne

I have a very similar setup. If you havent looked into curved monitors, I would suggest it. I debated on 4k monitor vs curved, because they are priced very similarly, and ended up going with curved. Although it isn't 4k, the Xbox One X detects it as so along with HDR and the monitor has freesync and 144hz refresh (along with a huge amount of settings built it). I have absolutely zero regrets and would highly recommend.

eur usd or gbp? no idea where you from.
Anyways, I'll show some around that price:

AOC AG322QCX 1440p 32" 144(165)hz- 560 EUR/480 GBP/ ?? in USD

VIOTEK GN32Q 1440p 32" 144(165)hz - [500 USD] (https://www.amazon.com/VIOTEK-GN32Q-2560x1440p-Crosshairs-Functionality/dp/B073V5T7WB) / ?? GBP / ?? EUR

Samsung CHG70 27" 1440p 144(165)hz is 600 USD, 32" is 700 but you pay for lots of extra features that you said you don't need like backlight strobing motion blur reduction etc, adaptive sync etc. IMO overpriced, just like Samsung's smartphones.

Philips 328M6FJMB 1440p 32" 144(165)hz - this one will be presented in 7 days on the big tech show IFA Berlin just like the LG panel that we talk about in this thread. I'd expect the price to be around the AOC monitor since they basically match specs. Also this screen has been announced in April and was initially not meant to be released in Europe, only in Asia. It was meant to be shipped to customers in Asia by the end of July so I don't think we'll have to wait long for it. Btw. The price in Taiwan is 14900 Taiwanese dollars which is around 500 USD.

LG 32GK850F - 1440p 32" 144(165)hz - Freesync version of the monitor in this thread, without G-Sync "tax" I'd expect around 600 EUR. Also presented at the IFA tech show in 7 days.

There's only those 5 1440p VA high refresh panels I know about, counting 32/27" and Freesync/G-Sync variants as the same panel.

Though it's a little pricy, and I am not sure if I want a curved screen. it may work for gaming, but how would a curved screen be for developing on Xcode, I think it might be a little weird. the HDR though is tempting for sure.

Amazon link (for the reviews) - r/https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-C27HG70-27-Inch-Monitor-C27HG70QQN/dp/B06XSQ5QN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540311953&sr=8-1&keywords=LC27HG70QQNXZA

It is HDR10, 1440p, 144hz with FreeSync (which is compatible with X1X). So only missing the 4k, but still pretty damn good. I use it in a dual monitor setup on a monitor arm and it fits like a dream. Been using it for ~10 months now with my X1X and am very very happy with it. Also due to the 144hz + FreeSync it has become my main monitor for PC gaming as well (even though most PC games still don't support HDR).

When I got my Samsung CHG70 27-inch, first thing I did was play Overwatch. As Torb I now can shoot Reinhardt in the nuts every game..it's like I have more time to react.

Thats the one I mentioned. I guess only newegg and acer sell it since no where else has it.

The 2 ones I keep going back and forth today are these.

And

I am getting impatent as my GPU just showed up today so now I am waiting on my CPU and I will use my T.V. to see if everything is working properly then probably pull the trigger on one of those two.

One note, sorry if the links dont work as I copy and pasted from mobile.

This is one of the very few monitors that will take a 4k signal from the PS4 Pro and output it as 1440p. It doesn't have G-Sync but reviews say the Freesync works with Nvidia cards. Mine arrives today so I can keep you updated if you like.

Edit: There is a BenQ one as well but it is 32". Has Freesync 2 so should work with Nvidia cards as well.https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EX3203R-FreeSync2-Brightness-Intelligence/dp/B07DPVRZXG

I would highly recommend CFG73. It’s one of your best options @144hz

Since you need freesync, I would just make the jump to 1440p 144hz. They aren't super expensive
